Full description

Nestling in a sheltered spot in Ventnor looking out towards the sea is St Maur with its nine en suite bedrooms in a converted Victorian villa originally built in 1876.

St Maur has been in the same family since 1966 and has been run by two successive generations. The current proprietors, who took over the business in 1989, are now looking to retire so this well run business in a beautiful setting is being offered for sale.

The current owners have considerably upgraded the accommodation over the years reducing the total number of bedrooms in favour of providing good sized en suites. There are very generously sized public rooms and beautiful gardens for the guests to enjoy. A number of the rooms have balconies enjoying the lovely sunny aspect.

Currently the proprietor acts as the chef and the majority of guests book for dinner, bed and breakfast with produce from St Maur’s kitchen garden being featured on the menu. There is a high level of repeat visitors and the hotel enjoys excellent occupancy levels over the eleven months of the year that it trades.

THE BUSINESS

St Maur operates over 11 months of the year during which time it enjoys high levels of occupancy. The current proprietors have built up a good level of repeat visitors over the years with many guests returning year on year and some making several visits a year. This leads to an excellent turnover and good net profit (accounts will be made available to bona fide applicants).

The majority of guests book for dinner, bed and breakfast and ferry inclusive packages are offered. However it would be possible to adjust the business to offer bed and breakfast only breaks if so required by incoming owners.

St Maur offers high quality breaks and is close to the centre of Ventnor, a vibrant sea side town with thriving trendy sea front. Ventnor has recently been considered as one of the top places in the country to visit and enjoys a wide range of visitors throughout the year.
