Shopping facilities are planned within Peters Village, but currently a number of small local stores can be found on Wouldham High Street and in the neighbouring village of Burham. A larger selection of retailers, including supermarkets is located in nearby Aylesford, and the popular Bluewater shopping centre at Greenhithe – home to around 300 stores, a multiplex cinema and a variety of restaurants – can be reached in less than half an hour by car.

Sports fans will find two golf courses within 15 minutes drive of the development – Cobtree Manor and Oast Park, and Buckmore Park International Outdoor Kart Circuit is a 10-minute drive away.

Maidstone, with its extensive sport, leisure and cultural facilities lies just six miles to the south, and the 230 acres of Leybourne Lakes Country Park lies a few miles to the west.

Education

For families, well-regarded schools in the local area include Burham CE Primary School, Halling Primary School and Aylesford School Sports College. In addition, a primary school is to be built as part of the new community. Post-16 education providers include Mid Kent College in Maidstone the University of Kent in Canterbury.

Transport Links

A number of major roads are easily accessible from Portland Gardens, including the A228, which will be linked to the development via the Medway Valley Crossing, a new bridge across the River Medway due to open at the end of the summer. Other important routes include the M2 and the M20.

Direct rail services run to London St Pancras from Snodland Station during the morning rush hour with journey times of 45 minutes. At other times passengers change at Strood for services into London.
