Codnor is a popular old mining Village which is mentioned in the Doomsday Book of 1086. Derby and Nottingham are both within easy reach being 12 and 14 miles away respectively. Codnor has many amenities for its size which include a supermarket, fish bar, an award wining Indian restaurant, hairdressers, chemist, fancy dress shop and a computer parts and stationery shop. There is also a popular pet store and even an 18 hole golf course with club house and restaurant at Ormonde Fields Golf Club.
