Leisure Facilities

The charming and desirable village of Crundale is situated to the North East of Haverfordwest. Though only a short distance from the county town, this rural settlement enjoys stunning countryside views, lying on the doorstep of the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park which boasts some of the most breathtaking scenery and diverse wildlife in Britain. The delightful and quaint coastal villages of Little Haven, Broad Haven and Newgale are just a short drive away, and many other pretty coastal resorts are within easy reach along the West Wales coastline.

Crundale has a Post Office, chapel and community hall including a children’s play area with a range of play equipment. Haverfordwest provides a wide array of amenities including a leisure centre with swimming pools, numerous supermarkets, high street shops, a
well-established market and farmers market, cinema, library, museums, restaurants and art galleries. There are also a number of doctors, dentists and a hospital within the town. Other benefits of the location include an out of town shopping centre which boasts several high street stores such as Marks and Spencer, Next, and Debenhams.

Fun for all the family can be found within a short distance of Crundale at Folly Farm, Blue Lagoon and Picton Castle & Gardens. Pembrokeshire County Museum at Scolton Manor is another highly popular attraction which regularly receives 5 star trip advisor ratings. With its Victorian walled gardens, an award winning eco-centre and childrens play area all set in 60 acres of park and woodland, there is something for everyone.

Crundale is nestled among a cluster of similarly popular villages within the parish of Rudbaxton, all of which have strong links with one
another and between them possess a rich and diverse history. There are a number of ancient monuments in the area; St Michael’s church in Rudbaxton and the Motte & Bailey Castle at Wiston date back to the 13th century and the castle is regarded as one of the finest examples of its type. There are a number of roman fortifications still in evidence and indeed a roman road extends some 500 metres out of the village itself, although curiously it has never been established where this road might have originally lead to. In more modern history it is reputed that Crundale House was where the first Pembrokeshire Corgis were bred. The breed is distinct from the standard Corgi and is the breed favoured by our Queen today.
