Fleetwood’s golden days as a major transport hub for steamers to Scotland may be long gone, but the town still enjoys excellent transport links, with the expanded and extended A585 now reaching right to the heart of the town, linking quickly to the M55 and the North West motorway network. Electric trams run from the main street right through to Blackpool and beyond, while regular roll-on-roll-off ferries link to Larne in Northern Ireland and occasional ferries link to Douglas in the Isle of Man. Nearby Thornton Station offers rail connections to Preston and the West Coast Mainline services
