Wheeldon are excited to present a charming development of 3 & 4 bedroom quality homes in a desirable location enjoying all the advantages of an enviable residential area.

As the name suggests, Hopton Rise is a panoramic development lying on the outskirts of the village, historically known for its high quality limestone quarries, including the remarkable underground quarry site at Middleton Mine running to the Hopton Wood quarry works at the other side of the hill.

Take a look at our range of properties here and you’ll discover everything from traditional two storey houses, four bedroom detached family homes, semi-detached and three-storey town houses, all built to extremely high standards, guaranteed to save you money on fuel and water bills and covered by a 10 year NHBC Buildmark warranty. We don’t just follow trends – we invest time to create homes and design developments that meet the aspirations of home buyers to ensure together, we make a home.

Naturally, you are looking for a home that’s been developed in harmony with such a rural, picturesque and unique local environment, so we have looked to retain and incorporate local landmarks such as trees, open space areas and landscaping to give Hopton Rise a special atmosphere to compliment the local area and the environment in which it sits. At the same time, Hopton Rise delivers a range of contemporary designed homes using craftsmen skilled in working with render, limestone and other local materials. The 47 homes at Hopton Rise have been carefully planned and designed with sympathy to preserve the natural integrity of the village and to comply with the conservation area requirements to ensure a home and lifestyle that’s perfect for you.

Leisure Facilities

The High Peak Trail is a popular and well-maintained path for walkers, cyclists and horse riders which follows the old Cromford and High Peak railway line. It is 17.5 miles long and runs from High Peak Junction at Cromford to Dowlow, near Buxton and it joins the Tissington Trail at Parsley Hay. It is an excellent walking and riding route, with stunning views across the Peak District.

The High Peak Trail has 3 inclines, each of which would have been served originally by a winding house – the trains would not have managed the climbs without them. Of the three original winding houses, only Middleton Top survives, and it is open to the public at weekends during the summer. A tourist Information centre and bike hire shop is located nearby.

Steeple Grange is an 18” gauge railway built on a former branch line of the Cromford and High Peak Railway (now the High Peak Trail), and the station is within easy walking distance along the High Peak Trail from Middleton Top. While not a very long railway, Steeple Grange offers an excellent insight into the history of the High Peak Railway, and is great fun for children. Open Sundays and bank holidays from Easter to September, plus some Saturdays in the summer.

The Derbyshire Eco Centre is the county hub for courses and activities focusing on education for sustainable development. It promotes creativity through the arts, and teaches skills to help conserve the natural world and to live healthy lifestyles. The Centre was built using sustainable methods, materials and technology to create an all–weather facility to deliver
heritage building skills, sustainable technologies, rural crafts, arts, environment and energy saving courses.
