You're 5x more likely to find a buyer for your property on Rightmove

If you're thinking of selling your property, make sure you choose an agent that can advertise your property on Rightmove; where sellers are 5x more likely to find a buyer for their property than on any other property website.

Agents that choose to advertise with Rightmove are able to unlock these key benefits:

  • Your property in front of the UK's biggest home-moving audience
    • More people use Rightmove to find their next home than any other property site. Being in front of the biggest audience of home-movers gives you the very best chance of finding the right buyer for you.
  • Access to the UK's most serious home-hunters
    • Agents that advertise with Rightmove receive more emails and phone calls from potential buyers than anywhere else they advertise. Enquiries are the key to viewings, offers, and a successful sale.
  • Your property online within minutes!
    • In the race to find a buyer, speed matters. A Rightmove agent can have your property live and searchable on the website within minutes of you approving your property advertisement.

Don't forget: The only way to get your property listed for sale on Rightmove, and in front of the UK's biggest home-moving audience, is by instructing one of the thousands of estate agents that advertises with us.

Why instruct an agent at all?

Ask anyone who has sold a property before and they will tell you that selling a property is both complicated and time-consuming. By instructing an agent to sell your home you gain their knowledge of the local property market, as well as their expertise in selling property just like your own.

A good estate agent will be able to:

  • Recommend an asking price for your property based on their knowledge of local market conditions.
  • Demonstrate a knowledge and understanding of the best marketing tactics required to ensure your property gets seen by the biggest audience of buyers, such as ensuring it's featured in places such as Rightmove!
  • Ensure your property gets the attention it deserves by knowing the best ways to present it online.
  • Provide you with personalised reports on your property's Rightmove performance and advice on how to increase its performance further.
  • Reduce the stress involved with selling your property by negotiating on your behalf and helping you through the tricky exchange and completion stages of the deal.

How to choose an estate agent

Ultimately, you should choose an estate agent that you feel comfortable dealing with and who you feel will look after your best interests as a seller. To help you make a decision, we would recommend asking prospective agents the following:

  • How and where your property will be advertised - now's the time to make sure that your property will be advertised on Rightmove!
  • How your property compares with similar properties already on the market in terms of price and presentation.
  • Ask to see examples of their success in selling properties like yours. You can then see how they have priced, promoted and presented other similar properties.
  • You'll obviously be interested in the agent's fees for selling your property, but also ask about the length of any exclusivity period (i.e. a period of time during which you cannot market your property with another estate agent) and ensure you are clear on how to serve notice should you wish to.
  • How often you can expect feedback from the agent while your property is on the market. A good agent should help you feel informed and in control throughout the process.

Giving you more choice as a landlord

More UK letting agents choose to advertise their properties for let on Rightmove than on any other property website. The reason they choose to advertise on Rightmove is simple; with the largest audience of UK home-movers, we provide more tenant enquiries than anywhere else - at a rate of one per second!

If you'd like your property to be seen by the UK's largest audience of home-movers, ensure you instruct an agent that advertises with us.

Why instruct an agent at all?

There are several different tiers of property management that a letting agent can provide you with, ranging from fully managed to let only.

Instructing an agent to manage your property can be both time-saving and cost effective as they will manage and deal with tenant enquiries and problems, source qualified tradesmen to rectify any maintenance issues and deal with all legal aspects and requirements, including contracts and tenancy deposit schemes.

A good letting agent will be able to:

  • Recommend a rental price for your property based on their knowledge of local market conditions.
  • Ensure your property is advertised where the UK's biggest audience of renters look for property - on Rightmove!
  • Keep you up to date with the latest changes in legislation, providing you with the advice, support and level of communication you need to feel that you're in safe hands.

Useful websites

There are a number of professionally recognised bodies for estate and letting agents in the UK to protect consumers in the home-moving process. These bodies can help you access support should things go wrong, or give you peace of mind when choosing an agent.

The Property Ombudsman (TPO) is an independent and impartial body which investigates and resolves disputes between the public and estate and letting agents. If you believe you have been unfairly treated, or had your legal rights infringed, contact TPO.
The Association of Residential Letting Agents (ARLA) is a voluntary professional membership body of letting agents who commit to high and professional standards of working. If you have a complaint against an ARLA accredited letting agent, ARLA can investigate the case on your behalf.
The National Association of Estate Agents (NAEA) is a voluntary membership body whose agents agree to strict rules of conduct, which ensures a high standard and professionalism in estate agency. If you have a complaint against an NAEA accredited estate agent, NAEA can investigate the case on your behalf.
Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) is a qualifications and standards organisation that ensures best practice in the professional management of land, property and construction. Members are known as chartered surveyors and can be recognised by the designation of MRICS (Member), FRICS (Fellow) and AssocRICS (Associate) after their name.
The National Approved Letting Scheme (NALS) is an independent licensing scheme. If you see an agent with a NALS license you know that they have agreed to a high standard of customer service, are part of the Client Money Protection Scheme, and can offer independent redress.
Ombudsmen Services work to sort out complaints between consumers and property firms that have employed their services. Consumers can access this help free of charge.
Safe Agents - 'Safe Agent Fully Endorsed' is a mark given to firms that place landlords' and tenants' money into Client Money Protection Schemes.
By law, all agents must sign up to a Property Redress Scheme (PRS) to ensure an escalated complaints procedure can be followed in the event that either the consumer or agent is unhappy with how their complaint has been dealt with. PRS will consider your complaint and work to find a solution.
