      Home Report

      If you see a property you are interested in buying, you should ask to see a copy of the Home Report from whoever is advertising the property. The Home Report will include a Single Survey, an Energy Report (including an Energy Performance Certificate) and a Property Questionnaire.

      Closing Date

      After the seller's solicitor has received notification of interest from two or more buyers, they often announce a closing date by which all of the offers must be received. Due to the sealed bids system often used, you will not know what anyone else has bid. As you can only bid once, it is important to think very carefully about what size offer to make and get it right first time.

      Your solicitor will make the offer on your behalf and will also advise the date of entry, which is the date you will be given the keys to your new home.

      Finalising the Mortgage

      Once your offer has been accepted, you will need to finalise your mortgage application by going back to your lender and providing details of the specific property you are planning to buy.
