    The firm's position right in the heart of the town means that your property will be on display in one of the busiest areas.

    Both entered the profession on leaving school and have been in business together since 1992.

    Richard Bushnell - Director 
    Richard has lived and worked in beautiful North Devon for most of his life, having built and sold a successful insurance brokerage, he retains a financial services company and develops property. Acquiring Chequers was the natural progression and having bought and sold property, he understands from the client perspective the stresses and strain of the house sale process and aims through Chequers to make the journey from valuation to completion as simple as possible. Out of work Richard is currently renovating a thatched farmhouse project and has two teenage boys, he enjoys cycling and rugby and is involved in Barnstaple business circles.

    I joined Chequers in June 2021 after working for six years at an alternative agent in Barnstaple. I was delighted to join Chequers and work alongside Town & Country Financial Advisers to help our clients grow their financial futures. I am a determined and motivated team leader here in Barnstaple, looking to achieve the best in everything that I do and I look forward to the opportunity of working with many more homeowners, investors and first-time buyers in the future.¿ Having lived in the area all of my life I have a wealth of knowledge of the County. I live on my parent's dairy and sheep farm in the Devon rolling countryside and have had my own flock of rare breed sheep for many years. In my spare time, I am a very active member of the National Federation of Young Farmers.

    I joined Chequers in early 2022 after working for over six years at an alternative agent who covered all of the West Country. I am delighted to join Chequers as a sales negotiator and valuer, furthering my career in the property industry. I have over 10 years experience of 'all things property' from holiday cottage management across the South West to lettings, with the majority¿being in property sales in and around the Bideford area. As a hard-working, friendly and driven individual I look forward to working with our clients in the future. My parents moved to Barnstaple, leaving the busy London life behind, when I was 7 years old and I'm so pleased that they did! Having previously worked for a property lettings company for 5 years and with a strong background in PR & Marketing, I am delighted to progress my career within the team here at Chequers and alongside Town & Country Financial Advisers. In my spare time, I enjoy walking or running with my lovely dog Hugo. Aswell as exploring Exmoor or at the beach, meeting up with friends for a good catch up or with family in various parts of the UK as well as spoiling my many godchildren.

Now a hard-working mum of three, Teresa thrives in being busy and is always happy to help with day-to-day enquiries and enjoys the process of putting properties onto the market and meeting new buyers.
