Making your house a home
  • paragraph

We don't just take your rent money once a month and then ignore you and we don't constantly pester you and demand to snoop around your home every five minutes either.

A high percentage of our tenants renew their contracts with us again and again - so we must be doing something right!

Here's what you can expect when you rent your house or flat with College and County.
  • paragraph

    Moving in
Your rental property will be cleaned the day before you take up occupation and a representative of College and County will meet you at the property on the first day of the tenancy to show you how everything works then hand over the keys to you.

Maintenance reports are responded to quickly and someone will visit your home (with a week's notice) at least three times a year to ensure all is well and you're happy.
  • paragraph

    Moving out
At least a month before your tenancy ends, you will receive a final inspection report, detailing what needs to be done on vacation to ensure maximum deposit return. We returned over 83% of all deposit monies held last year thanks to this unique report.

Checkout appointments are always carried out by an independent inventory clerk and all deposit monies are registered with the Dispute Service.

    Mark Crampton-Smith - Director
Tea boy and occasional odd job person ... Trouble shooter and media star; I have been with College and County since the beginning and have been fortunate enough to surround myself with a strong staff team.

I am ambitious and hope to be part of a business that continues to grow at 20% per annum whilst maintaining and improving services to clients and tenants alike. Through our adherence to ethical letting, we have been able to attract some excellent landlords who continue to invest in their portfolio to keep improving the standard of property available to let.

I enjoy game fishing and working my dog. I am hoping to be able to do rather more of both in the next few years!

    David Gilson - Lettings Director
I have always had a real interest in properties and in particular property investment.

I studied a RICS degree in Oxford specialising in sustainable development. During my second year at university I rented a house through College and County, having met Mark and the team I was keen to get involved and ended up working part time alongside my study. I have now been with College and County for 5 years and I head up our lettings team. I am definitely a people person and I love the importance that College and County put on building relationships with our landlords and tenants.

In my time with here I have been proud to see the company grow from strength to strength, the recognition of our efforts in winning GOLD at the Sunday Times Awards has to be a highlight.

Tina Doyle - Director at Core Renovations

Having spent the last 11 years with the team at College and County, I am thrilled to be offered the fantastic opportunity to establish a new company focusing solely on Project Management for residential property homeowners and landlords.

Core Renovations will provide you a full service to refurbish and renovate your property. From conception to fruition, we work with clients to establish their property needs and ensure that these are matched to the final results. We fully understand that many homeowners and landlords do not have the time or resources to handle and manage projects, furthermore, in the rental market in particular, voids have to be kept as short as possible.

After nearly 20 years working in an industry that I love, I have been able to establish a great network of skilled and qualified professionals to work with. The chance to establish and create my own business based on the foundation of the ethos and culture of College and County is an exciting and thrilling prospect. I very much enjoy the pivotal role of Project Manager between the client and contractors. My ultimate aim is to ensure the end result is the highest quality finish achieved within budget.....and on time, to the satisfaction of all parties involved.

Born and raised in South Africa I decided to broaden my horizons and moved to the UK. I have lived here for over 3 years and I am enjoying the challenges I am faced with. In the past 10 years I have ventured into various industries namely, travel, recruitment and property. I find working in the property industry the most challenging and rewarding as home is where the heart is.

I enjoy working with an enthusiastic team who aspire to be ethical within the industry.

Lindsay King - Senior Lettings Negotiator

Originally from Lincolnshire, I moved to Oxford in 2011 after finishing university in Sheffield. Having studied and worked in the events industry, I decided to take the plunge and move into the property industry as I've always had an interest which had developed further as I became a landlord myself.

I feel lucky to be able to do what I love every day and having had bad experiences myself as both a landlord and tenant (not with College and County), I'm so excited to work for a company who actually gets it right and in a team who are so passionate about providing an exceptional level of service. College and County genuinely go above and beyond for their landlords and also for their tenants.

The level of service provided and the drive for ethical letting really makes a refreshing change and couldn't be further from the negative stereotypes about the industry. I'm very proud to be part of such a fantastic team.

Adele is a number goddess... she joins us after years of customer service experience for a number of Blue chip companies; most recently, she was holding Sainsbury's together and now that she has left, our best advice is "ditch your shares".

Adele has one of each when it comes to husbands and children. Her 12 year old son will probably be a brain surgeon or a professional footballer when he grows up but either way, it will be because of his mother's down to earth, no-nonsense approach to everything she does and the hard work she has modelled to him in his formative years.

    Rebecca Poole - Lettings Negotiator
Having previously gained experience as a lettings negotiator in Herefordshire, I chose to relocate to Oxfordshire in 2015 in order to undertake a new challenge in a more fast-paced and lively environment. I have always aimed to provide a very high level of service to all clients and applicants alike, and this is definitely something I feel I have in common with the rest of the team. Oxford is definitely a contrast to rural Herefordshire, although I love the history and atmosphere of the city, and very much look forward to getting to know the area better and becoming a valued member of the fantastic team at College and County.

    Stephanie Coll - Lettings Administrator
After graduating from Goldsmiths University and having gained a degree in Drama and English, post London, my life has gone off on a tangent. I decided to return back to my hometown of Oxford and I have just celebrated my year anniversary with College and County. The culture here is as fresh as it is thriving and over the past year I have come to realise what College and County have as a team is rare and unique; to find a wonderful group of hardworking people who are truly willing to do what is right is not easy to come by. I look forward to the further adventures I am to embark upon with College and County.

I was raised and educated in Oxfordshire and have always loved the area, when my first child was born we knew we wanted to move back and live in the countryside. I began a career in property management nearly 10 years ago in Henley-on-Thames and having helped lead and grow a property management department for an independent agency for the past 5 years, I am now excited to be joining a great forward thinking team at College and County.

    Heather Tull - Property Manager

I have grown up living in Oxfordshire, yet never worked in Oxford itself. I love the city and its history, and I am really looking forward to getting to know it better.

Having previously worked as a Kitchen Designer, I have developed a keen interest in the property industry. There is a lot to learn, and I believe my organisational skills and previous project management experience will help me in my new role as a Trainee Property Manager.

Providing and maintaining a high level of customer service is extremely important to me. After meeting the team at College and County, and understanding the company's values, I knew it was the right place for me to develop my career. I'm looking forward to working with the team and all of our clients.

    Hannah Woodman - Property Manager

After studying fashion at university and then working within the events industry for several years in Nottingham, I decided to head back home to Oxfordshire to sink my teeth into the world of property. It was time to put the hours and hours invested in watching Homes Under The Hammer, and every TV program featuring Kirsty and Phil, while I was a student to good use!

Having gained a years' experience in estate agency in nearby Witney, I started to miss the fast pace and buzz of city life. Working as a Property Manager allows me to use my previous experience along with my personable nature to great effect. With a strong belief that honestly is the best policy (...and the world's worst poker face) I'm delighted to join such an ethical and forward thinking team, and manage our portfolio of fantastic homes.

Lili Yordanova - Trainee Property Manager

Originally from Bulgaria, I have been living in the UK since 2009 and started my journey with Oxford as a first stop, then moved to London to take my Bachelor's Degree in Events Management.

Throughout my studies I worked in a few areas which included events and marketing, office administration and HR/office management, where I gained the necessary skills that I can apply to my current position as Trainee Property Manager with College and County.

Oxford has always held an attraction for me and I decided to move back from London to pursue my interest in Property Management. I wanted to join a well-respected agency within the industry and joining College and County offered me the opportunity to expand my experience and develop my career within the industry.

Cristina Trevino - Property Manager Administrator

Originally from Madrid, I arrived in Oxford in October 2015. I am extremely happy to be living and working here in this amazing city.

After completing my degree as a Civil Engineer I began working in a civil construction company in Spain for 3 years. I learned how to organise works and handle budgets. Now in this new opportunity here at College and County, I want to learn more about properties, decoration, compliance, manage checkouts and check-ins and how the properties work and function.

I'm grateful that the company have given me this opportunity in an ethical company such as College and County. It is great to work in an environment that has honesty and transparency as it's value. It should be a standard to follow.

Monika Pawlik - Property Manager Administrator

Monika has just had her first child, a baby girl, therefore is on maternity leave until September 2017.

I am originally from Poland and have been living in Oxford for 7 years already and I cannot imagine myself in any other city in England. Oxford has a soul which I absolutely love.

I am inexperienced in this environment and that for me is a big challenge. My position at College and County involves mostly administration, but even doing that every day I am learning a lot of new things and my knowledge about the industry is quickly growing. I am really pleased to be at College and County because all the people who work here have a lot of knowledge about the property industry and I can see how much they want to improve every single day.

    Testimonials from Landlords

    • Landlord Testimonial

Results speak louder than anything else.
Mark Crampton Smith owns and runs College and County with a very keen eye. I have been a landlord for 15 years and in Oxford for 5 years. I struggled to let my two houses this year and with all this deposit and HMO legislation i decided to give them a go as i had heard they had just won an award. They have found me two great sets of tenants and very happy with my experience. My other local agent had taken 5months to get NO tenants. Results speak louder than anything else.
    • Landlord Testimonial

Allow me to let my property with minimal hassle
A great service. They removed a lot of the hassle that is associated with property management, allowing me to let my property with minimal hassle. They have a proactive a efficient approach that ensured the smooth running of the property. Having had a bad experience with a letting agent before, I was wary of property letting however my faith has now been restored. I would thoroughly recommend.

    Testimonials from Tenants

    • Tenant Testimonial

Within half an hour our boiler had been fixed.
Last night our boiler broke down. The office was shut but I phoned on the off chance someone would pick up. Luckily College and County have an out of hours service for any issues that arise. Within half an hour our boiler had been fixed and the heating was back on. Considering it was -5 outside we were very appreciative of the speed and efficiency from Lily and the team.
    • Tenant Testimonial

I especially appreciated the clear explanation
As a tenant, I've been really impressed with College and County: my husband and I just moved into a new property and the service has been professional and quick. I especially appreciated the clear explanation of costs and process (this is often where other agencies go so wrong). They've been friendly and fair - essential skills for a housing agency - and there's been answers for every question I sent through. So far, so great! I'm really happy we've switched into a property with C&C. UPDATE: Feb 8, 2013. It's been one year since moving into our property. First, I must say, I love my new home. Things have been really smooth since we moved in. A few issues with our heating/gas were fixed with speed and the service was of high quality. There were a few minor issues where engineers were sent to the house without previous notice, but all-in-all, I'm still quite happy with C&C and the support they've provided.
    • Tenant Testimonial

      Really recommend this agency!
Hello all, I've been with College and County for the last 2 years and the professionalism & flexibility are their greatest strengths. Every time we had a query, they have replied and take action in less than 24 hrs! no doubts that I will renewal contract with them for next year - really recommend this agency! Thanks

Your Facebook maintenance reporting is Great!
Your Facebook maintenance reporting is Great! They have always been really good at sorting out problems we have had in our house over the past two years. A few months ago we opted to use Facebook to report our maintenance and we have all been so impressed! They get back to us almost instantly and its so much easier than using email as we can all get updates to our phones. Very impressed leaps and bounds better than my agent in first year.
    • Tenant Testimonial

      I would say...trust this agency!
I have been using this agency twice, I think they offer excellent houses and they are always very fast in coming around to sort out something broken. I can't believe what people say below, members of staff have always been so kind to us! I would say...trust this agency!
    • Tenant Testimonial

      Keep up the good work!
In the lettings business, community relations are an important factor, and College and County get high ratings on this - their signboards are removed pretty much as soon as the let has been agreed, unlike other agents who regularly leave LET boards up way beyond the two week authorised limit, and properties always look well kept from the outside, without rubbish being allowed to build up in front gardens etc. Keep up the good work! Headington Signwatch
    • Tenant Testimonial

      Friendly and helpful approach
Having spent three years living in a College and County property I can honestly say that I am somewhat sad to have left. Many happy memories from my time there will be with me for the rest of my life. Perhaps the most important quality Displayed by College and County that has helped me and my family leave with such a positive experience in mind is their friendly and helpful approach to doing business with you, the tenant. Their personal approach to the tenant-agency relationship makes them a joy to interact with and I would not hesitate in recommending them as an agent for anyone looking to rent a property in the Oxford area, I would certainly go back to them should a move back to Oxford be on the cards for us. They operate in a professional yet friendly manner and having rented from a few agents in the Oxford area previously I can certainly say that College and County stand out above the rest. Keep doing what you are doing and best wishes to all at College and County!
