Making your house a home
  • paragraph

We don't just take your rent money once a month and then ignore you and we don't constantly pester you and demand to snoop around your home every five minutes either.

A high percentage of our tenants renew their contracts with us again and again - so we must be doing something right!

Here's what you can expect when you rent your house or flat with College and County.
  • paragraph

    Moving in
Your rental property will be cleaned the day before you take up occupation and a representative of College and County will meet you at the property on the first day of the tenancy to show you how everything works then hand over the keys to you.

Maintenance reports are responded to quickly and someone will visit your home (with a week's notice) at least three times a year to ensure all is well and you're happy.
  • paragraph

    Moving out
At least a month before your tenancy ends, you will receive a final inspection report, detailing what needs to be done on vacation to ensure maximum deposit return. We returned over 83% of all deposit monies held last year thanks to this unique report.

Checkout appointments are always carried out by an independent inventory clerk and all deposit monies are registered with the Dispute Service.

    Mark Crampton-Smith: Director
Tea boy and occasional odd job person ... Trouble shooter and media star; I have been with College and County since the beginning and have been fortunate enough to surround myself with a strong staff team.

I am ambitious and hope to be part of a business that continues to grow at 20% per annum whilst maintaining and improving services to clients and tenants alike. Through our adherence to ethical letting, we have been able to attract some excellent landlords who continue to invest in their portfolio to keep improving the standard of property available to let.

I enjoy game fishing and working my dog. I am hoping to be able to do rather more of both in the next few years!

    David Gilson: Lettings Manager
I have always had a real interest in properties and in particular property investment.

I studied a RICS degree in Oxford specialising in sustainable development. During my second year at university I rented a house through College and County, having met Mark and the team I was keen to get involved and ended up working part time alongside my study. I have now been with College and County for 5 years and I head up our lettings team. I am definitely a people person and I love the importance that College and County put on building relationships with our landlords and tenants.

In my time with here I have been proud to see the company grow from strength to strength, the recognition of our efforts in winning GOLD at the Sunday Times Awards has to be a highlight.

    Tina Doyle: Senior Property Manager
I have worked in Lettings and Property Management for over 12 years. I am proudly Oxford - born and bred - and have been based in East Oxford the whole time I have been working in Property.

I love the variety of the role, two days are never the same. I thrive when we are busy and having to deal with a variety of different projects - I am mocked (in a positive way) for my ability to remember the most random things relating to our properties. I've got a number of proud moments in business - passing the Level 3 Technical Award in Lettings and Property Management (at my first attempt) and I've already passed qualifications in the next Level. I would also say that winning the Gold Award for the Best Letting Agent in the Southern Region at the ESTA's in 2010 was another great day - I was speechless, which is a first for me! Of course, we have gone on to achieve more accolades, such as Gold for Single Office in the Central Region at the prestigious Sunday Times Awards in 2011, along with Silver for Student Lettings in the UK.

I have worked for College and County since February 2007 I enjoy working for such a dedicated team. The finance department has worked hard to get the accounts package on our Lettings software to work for both clients and us. Probably the most noticeable achievement for College and County so far, is to change our tenants rental payments to direct debit - no mean feat!

I am originally from Poland. I have been living in Oxfordshie for 6 years now and for nearly 2 years in Oxford itself. I absolutely adore this city for its architecture and landscape. It is very close to my heart, especially because my son was born here.

Joining the team in College and County was an amazing opportunity. It is my first job within the industry. I am finding it challenging but enjoyable. I know I am learning from the best.

    Erika Sziva: Accounts Assistant
I am from Hungary and have been living in Oxford since 2006.

My last job was also in Accounts, but working for a letting agency is a different environment for me. There are always new challenges, and I feel excited whenever there is new knowledge to acquire. I am currently increasing my accounts knowledge by studying AAT levels 2 and 3.

I have never seen such professionalism in an office and I consider myself lucky to be part of it. I can feel that my colleagues love their jobs and they enjoy being here, they care about the company and I honestly believe it is very rare to have such a strong, devoted team.

    Katy McCall: Lettings negotiator
I've always lived and worked in Oxfordshire, and love the city. Not only is it a city that I love living in, I think the property market in Oxford is really exciting; it holds great potential for landlords and tenants alike.

I now have four years' experience in the property industry. I've worked in a number of property management and lettings roles around Oxfordshire. Property has always been a keen interest of mine, and I recently gained my Technical Award in Lettings and Property Management.

I'm really excited at the challenges that lie ahead working in an award winning agency, and feel it will be an extremely rewarding role. I believe my wealth of knowledge about lettings will be extremely beneficial to College and County, and look forward to working closely with the team and clients.

    Testimonials from Landlords

    • Landlord Testimonial

Results speak louder than anything else.
Mark Crampton Smith owns and runs College and County with a very keen eye. I have been a landlord for 15 years and in Oxford for 5 years. I struggled to let my two houses this year and with all this deposit and HMO legislation i decided to give them a go as i had heard they had just won an award. They have found me two great sets of tenants and very happy with my experience. My other local agent had taken 5months to get NO tenants. Results speak louder than anything else.

Allow me to let my property with minimal hassle
A great service. They removed a lot of the hassle that is associated with property management, allowing me to let my property with minimal hassle. They have a proactive a efficient approach that ensured the smooth running of the property. Having had a bad experience with a letting agent before, I was wary of property letting however my faith has now been restored. I would thoroughly recommend.

    Testimonials from Tenants

    • Tenant Testimonial

Within half an hour our boiler had been fixed.
Last night our boiler broke down. The office was shut but I phoned on the off chance someone would pick up. Luckily College and County have an out of hours service for any issues that arise. Within half an hour our boiler had been fixed and the heating was back on. Considering it was -5 outside we were very appreciative of the speed and efficiency from Lily and the team.
    • Tenant Testimonial

I especially appreciated the clear explanation
As a tenant, I've been really impressed with College and County: my husband and I just moved into a new property and the service has been professional and quick. I especially appreciated the clear explanation of costs and process (this is often where other agencies go so wrong). They've been friendly and fair - essential skills for a housing agency - and there's been answers for every question I sent through. So far, so great! I'm really happy we've switched into a property with C&C. UPDATE: Feb 8, 2013. It's been one year since moving into our property. First, I must say, I love my new home. Things have been really smooth since we moved in. A few issues with our heating/gas were fixed with speed and the service was of high quality. There were a few minor issues where engineers were sent to the house without previous notice, but all-in-all, I'm still quite happy with C&C and the support they've provided.
    • Tenant Testimonial

      Really recommend this agency!
Hello all, I've been with College and County for the last 2 years and the professionalism & flexibility are their greatest strengths. Every time we had a query, they have replied and take action in less than 24 hrs! no doubts that I will renewal contract with them for next year - really recommend this agency! Thanks

Great attitude from everybody I've ever dealt with
Great attitude from everybody I've ever dealt with at College and County. It is no wonder they continue to win so many great awards. Proper customer service where the focus is on fairness on all sides. Love it.

Your Facebook maintenance reporting is Great!
Your Facebook maintenance reporting is Great! They have always been really good at sorting out problems we have had in our house over the past two years. A few months ago we opted to use Facebook to report our maintenance and we have all been so impressed! They get back to us almost instantly and its so much easier than using email as we can all get updates to our phones. Very impressed leaps and bounds better than my agent in first year.
    • Tenant Testimonial

      I would say...trust this agency!
I have been using this agency twice, I think they offer excellent houses and they are always very fast in coming around to sort out something broken. I can't believe what people say below, members of staff have always been so kind to us! I would say...trust this agency!
    • Tenant Testimonial

      Keep up the good work!
In the lettings business, community relations are an important factor, and College and County get high ratings on this - their signboards are removed pretty much as soon as the let has been agreed, unlike other agents who regularly leave LET boards up way beyond the two week authorised limit, and properties always look well kept from the outside, without rubbish being allowed to build up in front gardens etc. Keep up the good work! • Tenant Testimonial

      Friendly and helpful approach
Having spent three years living in a College and County property I can honestly say that I am somewhat sad to have left. Many happy memories from my time there will be with me for the rest of my life. Perhaps the most important quality Displayed by College and County that has helped me and my family leave with such a positive experience in mind is their friendly and helpful approach to doing business with you, the tenant. Their personal approach to the tenant-agency relationship makes them a joy to interact with and I would not hesitate in recommending them as an agent for anyone looking to rent a property in the Oxford area, I would certainly go back to them should a move back to Oxford be on the cards for us. They operate in a professional yet friendly manner and having rented from a few agents in the Oxford area previously I can certainly say that College and County stand out above the rest. Keep doing what you are doing and best wishes to all at College and County!
