Budleigh Salterton is very well known as one of the last of the unspoilt places in Devon with its long Pebbled Ridge beach, the back drop of red cliffs and the mouth of the River Otter. This popular quaint seaside town is situated on England's first natural World Heritage Site with the beautiful natural Jurassic Coast which covers 95 miles of truly stunning coastline from East Devon to Dorset. Budleigh Salterton is nestled between the larger coastal towns of Sidmouth and Exmouth and was originally the Hamlet of Salterton on the Rolle estate. The heart of the town developed in the 19th century and essentially consists of an assortment of cottages and Victorian villas, as well as impressive early 20th century residences with a small brook running along the shopping thoroughfare. Today there is an eclectic mix of properties from grand detached houses to bijou apartments and cottages.
The pretty villages of East Budleigh, Otterton, Colaton Raleigh are all within a few miles of Budleigh Salterton and the coastline.
