    H.J. Burt & Son is an independent partnership practicing in West Sussex and adjoining counties. Our business originated in Steyning in 1887 as auctioneers and valuers advising the neighbouring land owning and farming communities. Based on our local knowledge and experience we have well established and high profile estate agency and letting offices in the old market town of Steyning and in the village of Henfield together with our associate London Office at 121 Park Lane, Mayfair. These are backed up by the partners' professional expertise as Chartered Surveyors.

    Our offices in Steyning & Henfield have an excellent record of selling Town & Village properties in Steyning & Henfield and the surrounding villages.     We offer a comprehensive lettings service for both town & country properties. Our competitive fee packages include extensive marketing with internet coverage through our website and the principal property property websites, Rightmove, Primelocation & Zoopla, combined with advertising & editorials in the local & regional press which can include in the West Sussex County Times & the Mid Sussex Times, coupled with detailed letting particulars, full reference appraisals on prospective tenants, preparing Assured Shorthold Tenancy agreements & detailed Inventories & Records of Condition. We hold tenants' security deposits under the terms of the Tenancy Deposit Scheme & our membership of the Dispute Service Ltd.     A partner of the firm, a chartered surveyor and graduate of the Royal Agricultural College, Cirencester and Reading University as well as a fellow of the CAAV, Rowan joined H J Burt in 1993. He specialises in country & agricultural work dealing with the valuation and sale of farms, country houses and equestrian properties and advising on properties and land with development potential. H.J.Burt & Son is an independent partnership dealing with a wide range of property related matters throughout Sussex and the adjoining counties.

The business was established in 1887 by Harry Jas Burt a well respected auctioneer, land agent and valuer. The firm has been through many changes over the last 110 years (many will remember the name Churchman Burt) and was re-formed as H.J. Burt & Son in 1993.
We are based in the heart of West Sussex with two offices in prominent High Street positions, one in the old market town of Steyning and the other in the village of Henfield.
