    Hennessy Bowie & Co has been practising in Bishopbriggs for some twenty five years, principally in the areas of domestic conveyancing, commercial conveyancing, commercial leasing, executries and matters relating to care for the elderly, such as the preparation of Asset Protection trusts. The partners have a wide experience in all such matters. The practice serves a wide range of clients and our best testimony is that at least seventy five percent of our business comes from referrals from clients who have been delighted with our services.

    We pride ourselves on our user friendly approach to clients and work with you at all times to achieve the best results we can. Not only is that our professional duty, but we know from experience that a satisfied customer becomes a satisfied client.

    In recent years we have extended our services to provide a full estate agency service through a branch in Lenzie. With the advent of such tools as Rightmove etc, we can and have sold properties all over the West of Scotland and indeed beyond. The days of having to be locally based and having to sell properties principally through window displays have long since gone.

    We are always happy to provide quotes for any work to be undertaken prior to carrying it out. We can offer quotes on an hourly basis for complex matters or a fixed fee for more straightforward tasks such as residential conveyancing and estate agency.

    In short, we are happy to work with, and on behalf of, our clients and always in their best interests. We aim to accommodate clients wherever possible, including home visits (where appropriate) and out of hours meeting.

Selling a property

    When you are selling a property, the steps mirror those above, albeit in reverse. Before you put your home on the market, you must instruct a home report. If we are selling your home, we will do this for you. We will market the property for you and when we receive an offer, we will notify you, offer our advice and take your instructions on it. We'll negotiate the offer with the buyer (the 'missives') and conclude the transaction when everything is finalised.

Buying a Property

    If you are buying your first home, moving to a new place or you are a property investor with a portfolio of houses, we can help. As conveyancing solicitors and estate agents, we can market your property as well as handle the transaction from start to finish. The property market is ever-changing and it's important you take advice on current market conditions. We can advise you on current market conditions and how these should affect the offer you make, and how they might affect the offers you will receive.

    Once you have found your ideal home, get in touch with us. We'll advise you on what we think is an appropriate offer and then contact the selling estate agent to 'note interest'. At this point we will find out if anyone else has noted interest and whether or not there is closing date.

    Once a mortgage has been arranged, we'll submit the offer. More often than not a process of negotiation begins. This is known as the missives. Once the missives are concluded the contract for sale is complete. Before this, we'll make sure all of the relevant documentation and reports are in place - the coal report, any necessary planning and building warrants and so on.

    Once all of this is done we will register your 'title' to the home for you and make sure you get the keys. All you have to do is the 'flitting'!
