    Our local area
    • Paragraph

Bounded by open farmland to the north and the long expanse of Aldwick Beach and Pagham Nature Reserve to the south, (both designated as areas of Special Scientific Interest), Rose green is very much a bustling village community with local shops including a Post Office, a family run butcher and fishmonger and an old fashioned greengrocer, evoking the sentiment of a bygone era.
    • Paragraph

Housing is varied, as this sunny spot attracts those retiring to bungalows by the seaside, in addition to family homes on the private marine estates of Aldwick Bay and Craigweil.  The original Craigweil House, where King George V convalesced in 1929, was demolished in 1939 and the architect Joshua Auty oversaw the residential development of the 70 acre site creating large plots with wide grassy verges, meandering lanes and forest trees.
    • Paragraph

Similarly, Aldwick Bat estate stretching to some 575 acres was developed by Capt. H.G. Alaway to be a model estate development with provision for open spaces and gardens close to the shore.

Both private estates catered for those wishing to have smaller second or weekend homes near the seaside as well as larger properties.
