Rachel Tester has lived and worked in the local area all her life and decided to set up her own Estate Agency in January 2013. Her successful Estate Agency career began in May 1994 with a local corporate agent in Worle High Street where she was employed as a junior negotiator, from there she worked her way up through the ranks over many years eventually running the office, Rachel only left the business to bring up her family.

Karen Gough

Originally from Bristol, Karen moved to Weston in 2000 as she had a growing family and wanted to move out of the city. Initially they looked at Portishead and Clevedon but Karen and her husband soon realised that they would get more for their money in Weston and decided to set up their family home in St Georges.

Karen has enjoyed a varied career predominantly in sales and customer service roles and after being made redundant was successful in joining the team at Rachel J Homes as a negotiator. Karen could see that Rachel and Jenny were very committed in their approach towards the business and was very much looking forward to being part of that. Karen has excellent customer service skills and again due to having moved home several times she knows what an upheaval it can be.

Since joining the team in June 2014 Karen has proved herself to be a great asset to the team also.

Claire Redstone

Claire Redstone joined the team in March 2016 as a part time Negotiator and has already proved herself to be a key member of the team. Having previously worked in Estate Agency amongst other customer facing roles she understands the importance of communication and provides excellent customer service.

Claire has a young family but manages to strike a healthy work/home balance. Claire has always lived locally so is familiar with all areas enabling her to give that extra information that might be required should you be moving in from out of the area.

Cathy Ann Davies

Cathy Ann was welcomed to the team in August 2017 as an Administrator and also deals with all Social Media platforms. Cathy has always worked in customer facing role and offers excellent customer service. Whilst she hasn't been in the industry before she is learning fast and she is very interested in property having recently bought her first home, locally in Worle, with her partner. Cathy Ann studied Fine Art and Graphic Design at Bath Spa University and enjoys using her love for art to put a creative flair on everything.

What you can expect -

An energy assessment of your home will involve an internal and external inspection of the property.

An EPC can only be undertaken by a fully accredited Domestic Energy Assessor (DEA) or Home Inspector.

Andrew whom we recommend is a fully accredited DEA (As part of a DEA's accreditation, a check on their Criminal Record is made with the Criminal Records Bureau).

It is advisable to ask your DEA to bring along proof of accreditation for your own peace of mind.

The domestic EPC is valid for up to 10 years, it would be in your interest to have your certificate updated if you have completed any works likely to improve their rating.

It will make the process quicker and more accurate if you have to hand any paperwork confirming when works were carried out on your property such as new windows, extensions built etc- the more recently these were carried out the better the energy rating for the property is likely to be.

The year of property construction

Walls and roof construction

Signs of wall-cavity insulation

Energy-saving "green" devices (such as solar panels, for instance)

Number of double glazed windows and when installed

Number of open or closed fireplaces

Make and model of boiler and the type of flue and fuel used

Number of low energy light-bulbs

Type of heating system used and controls (wall thermostat etc...)

Roof insulation and thickness.

Measure the thickness of the hot water cylinder jacket or foam.

Check for excessive window area in larger houses and take measurements of conservatories and extensions.

Note the number of habitable rooms that are heated.

Measure the internal or external areas of the home.

Living in Cornwall we were limited to the internet for searching for a new home in the Weston area. We found a property we liked and rang Rachel for some details. Rachel asked lots of questions as to our needs and suggested 3 properties we might like to view.
