Olney is situated mid-way between, and approximately 11 miles from Central Milton Keynes, Northampton, Bedford and Wellingborough. The town boasts excellent facilities and amenities, these include general stores, chemist, banks, building societies, doctors, dentist, public houses and restaurants. Sports facilities include rugby, cricket, football, bowls, tennis clubs and a gymnasium. The town is steeped in history and has its own museum. Olney is the home of the original Shrove Tuesday Pancake Race and famous past residence include the poet William Cowper and John Newton, who wrote 'Amazing Grace'.
