Most of the sales in Cumbria over the past year were terraced properties which on average sold for £124,636. Semi-detached properties had an average sold price of £167,438 and detached properties averaged at £294,452.
Cumbria, with an overall average price of £182,778, was similar in terms of sold prices to nearby Greater Manchester (£183,893), but was more expensive than Lancashire (£160,222) and Merseyside (£161,831). The most expensive area within Cumbria was Grasmere (£569,727) and the cheapest was Bolton Low Houses (£40,500).
In the past year house prices in Cumbria were similar to the year before and 5% up on 2008 when they averaged at £173,827.
