Most of the sales in South Wales over the past year were terraced properties which on average sold for £124,357. Semi-detached properties had an average sold price of £161,900 and detached properties averaged at £274,509.
South Wales, with an overall average price of £171,428, was similar in terms of sold prices to nearby West Wales (£166,475) and North Wales (£170,863), but was cheaper than Mid Wales (£181,280). The most expensive area within South Wales was Monmouthshire (£252,659) and the cheapest was Blaenau Gwent (£94,428).
In the past year house prices in South Wales were 4% up on the year before and 7% up on 2014 when they averaged at £160,331.
