Most of the sales in South Wales over the past year were terraced properties which on average sold for £123,766. Semi-detached properties had an average sold price of £165,164 and detached properties averaged at £277,171.
South Wales, with an overall average price of £172,630, was similar in terms of sold prices to nearby West Wales (£168,641) and North Wales (£174,088), but was cheaper than Mid Wales (£197,170). The most expensive area within South Wales was Monmouthshire (£255,575) and the cheapest was Blaenau Gwent (£96,641).
In the past year house prices in South Wales were similar to the year before and 8% up on 2014 when they averaged at £160,353.
