South Wales, with an overall average price of £157,744, was similar in terms of sold prices to nearby West Wales (£154,334) and North Wales (£156,621), but was cheaper than Mid Wales (£180,663). The most expensive area within South Wales was Monmouthshire (£227,122) and the cheapest was Blaenau Gwent (£84,852).
In the past year house prices in South Wales were 4% up on the year before and similar to 2007 when they averaged at £154,303.
