Most of the sales in South Yorkshire over the past year were semi-detached properties which on average sold for £128,659. Terraced properties had an average sold price of £105,102 and detached properties averaged at £219,075.

South Yorkshire, with an overall average price of £141,236, was similar in terms of sold prices to nearby East Riding Of Yorkshire (£144,953), but was cheaper than West Yorkshire (£154,743) and North Yorkshire (£199,380). The most expensive area within South Yorkshire was Cawthorne (£358,818) and the cheapest was Edlington (£75,747).

In the past year house prices in South Yorkshire were 3% up on the year before and similar to 2007 when they averaged at £141,373.
