Most of the sales in Birtley over the past year were semi-detached properties which on average sold for £161,454. Detached properties had an average sold price of £251,422 and terraced properties averaged at £113,669.
Birtley, with an overall average price of £176,724, was similar in terms of sold prices to nearby Washington (£168,215) and Low Fell (£180,895), but was more expensive than Gateshead (£140,808).
In the past year house prices in Birtley were 25% up on the year before and 13% up on 2015 when they averaged at £156,970.
