Full description:
Semi rural location with beautiful views of the Campsie hills and surrounding countryside, Willowbank has been created to suit a full range of tastes. The development is on the west of Kirkintilloch, between Adamslie Park and the canal.
There’s so much going on in Kirkintilloch – it’s an up and coming town to choose as your home. The town is well known for its Roman history, with the Antonine wall originally routed through what is now the town. The canal has always played a large part in shaping the area, in days gone by contributing to local industry and now attracting tourists to the area. In fact, with the restoration of the canal, Kirkintilloch is known as the ‘Canal Capital’ of Scotland.
For nature lovers, Woodhead Park is at the other side of the town and Peel Park, a Unesco World Heritage Site features a picturesque bandstand. You can enjoy the local wildlife in the parks and surrounding hills and countryside, or enjoy walks along the canal towpaths.
The Canal festival is held at Southbrae Marina every summer and is an event not to be missed, with boat trips along the canal and a high community spirit. Music is high on the agenda at the G66+ Live festival as well, which also features creative arts. Staying on the subject of the arts, the Turret Theatre is home to a lively amateur dramatics club.
If sport is more your thing, there are two golf clubs in the area, a football stadium and an award-winning state of the art leisure centre, with swimming pool, fitness suite and floodlit sports courts and football pitches.
Shopping and school facilities are excellent in Kirkintilloch and also the surrounding towns with the development sitting comfortably within the catchment area of St. Ninian’s and Lenzie Academy. Life is easy for commuters too, as the new Kirkintilloch Link Road connects the town to the main motorway network in minutes, with a rail link being provided in Lenzie.
