St John’s Park - Marlborough

Marlborough in Wiltshire is regarded as one of the most quintessentially English towns. It is graced by many beautifully conserved historic buildings, a High Street that is said to be one of the widest in the country, and the gentle course of the river Kennet, which flows through the town.

Just east of the town is Crest Nicholson's St Johns Park. Situated on the intriguingly named Choppingknife Lane, the development offers a wide range of traditionally designed properties, encompassing 2 bedroom apartments and 2, 3 and 5 bedroom houses. Proximity to the town centre and the area's well-regarded schools makes St Johns Park a particularly good choice for families, and the glorious countryside surrounding Marlborough will appeal to every discerning buyer.

Location

The A4, once the coach road, links Marlborough to Hungerford and Newbury. Each has its own special character and reasons to visit. Hungerford is well known for its antique shops, and the restored Kennet and Avon Canal, which provides enjoyment for many, in boats or on the tow-path.

Newbury is a market town that has evolved into a modern hub for business and shopping. The pedestrianised centre has over three hundred shops as well as many of the national brand leaders, including three major supermarkets. lt is also home to the famous Newbury Racecourse.

To the north is Swindon, which offers all the amenities of a major centre. lts history is visible in the pretty Victorian parks and traditional architecture of the old town, but it too has a thriving town centre with all the shops, sports and leisure facilities, bars and restaurants you could wish for.

At St Johns Park, you can catch a local bus literally at the end of the road to take you into town. The nearest train station is Bedwyn, about four miles away, where you can commute to London Paddington in about 1 hour 15 minutes, Newbury in 17 minutes and Reading in 40 minutes.

From Marlborough the M4 is accessible via the A346 at junction 15; then you are on the road to Reading, London, Heathrow, the M25, Bristol, Bath and Wales.
