Tiptree is a village situated between Colchester and Chelmsford, renowned for the Wilkin & Sons jam factory and is located approximately 10 miles from Colchester and 50 miles north east of London. Surrounding villages include Messing, Tolleshunt Knights, Layer Marney, Inworth, Birch, Great Braxted, Great Totham and Little Totham. Tiptree itself has four Primary Schools and one Secondary School, Sixth Form and Sports College, known as Thurstable School. Tiptree Heath lies to the south of Tiptree and is a site of special scientific interest and the village itself is located close to Tollesbury, Salcott and Mersea, being ideal for the sailing and the yachting enthusiast. Tiptree itself is served by a number of shopping facilities for everyday requirements and includes two Supermarkets. On the outskirts of Tiptree is the Perrywood Garden Centre and Nurseries. Tiptree offers good access to the main A12 trunk road with links to the M25. The mainline railway station at Witham links to London Liverpool Street.
