Life’s a beach for Florida property buyers

Wednesday, March 25th, 2009
A new law to guarantee public access to beaches in Florida is passing through the state legislature.

The draft bill will ensure that it is illegal for private landowners to block access to a beach or put up signs claiming it is private land, the Tampa Tribune reports.

Under the present law, all parts of the beach seaward of the median high water mark are public property, but some people have sought to deny access to the public by such means.

The legislation could be good news for those buying Florida property near to the coast, as it will guarantee their access to nearby beaches.

Speaking in the state legislature in Tallahassee, member of the House agriculture and natural resources policy committee Maria Sachs said: "With more and more coastal development, we need the state of Florida to step up and say that Florida beaches belong to all Floridians."

Florida property in coastal locations such as Daytona Beach and Palm Coast is included among the 48 lots currently being auctioned online by Rowell Realty & Auction, with the sale being announced earlier this month and continuing until March 31st.

New flights boost for Canary Islands property seekers

Tuesday, March 24th, 2009
There will be more flights to Tenerife from Manchester from this summer, it has been announced.

Low-cost airline easyJet has revealed that it has brought forward plans to expand its services from the airport to May 21st, having originally been pencilled in for August.

Tenerife will see more flights as a result, which may boost those seeking to invest in Canary Islands property.

UK commercial manager Carla Brear said: "Customers in the north-west can now take advantage of even more of easyJet’s famously low fares to the summer hotspots across Europe."

The airline stated that its fares will start at £22.99.

Earlier this month travel writer for the Times Peter Stothard suggested that people may enjoy visiting the San Blas area on the southern tip of the island.

Noting that this lies away from the beaten tourist track, he described the area as one full of "mysterious twisted ravines, volcanic shafts and caves".

Normandy property with flower power

Tuesday, March 24th, 2009
The Norman village of Beuvron-en-Auge turns on the flower power each May as it stages its annual geranium festival.

Lovers of all things floral may find this a very good time to visit the area, which has a number of other scenic and historic attractions.

According to Francethisway.com, the village has a number of "not to be missed" examples of half-timbered colombage homes, a style repeated in many manor houses in the surrounding countryside.

Such architecture may appeal to those interested in buying Normandy property.

As well as the geraniums, Normandy property seekers can also enjoy the local cider for which the area is famous.

Cheese lovers are also catered for, with the town of Livarot being well known for the cheese of that name.

This and other cheeses are on display in the town’s cheese festival, held each August.

Italy property seekers wish happy birthday

Tuesday, March 24th, 2009
One of Rome’s most significant days of the year is April 21st, when the city celebrates its birthday.

Italy property seekers looking to enjoy some of the culture and heritage of the Eternal City can experience a range of open air events, parades, historical re-enactments and more to mark the establishment of the date when Rime was founded by Romulus in 753 BC.

While the city may look like a re-make of Gladiator or Spartacus on this occasion, those looking to buy Italy property in or near the nation’s capital may also enjoy a range of attractions every day.

These vary from Roman remains such as the Coliseum to modern locations such as the Stadio Olympico, where a football match involving Lazio or Roma could be enjoyed.

Other notable features include the Vatican City, the River Tiber and the Spanish Steps.

Food and festive fun for Tuscany property buyers

Monday, March 23rd, 2009
Tuscany offers outstanding food and a range of exciting festivities, it has been stated.

Writing in the Press and Journal, travel correspondent Bess Mason said that the annual Castel del Piano Palio horse race is "no less passionate" than its equivalent in Siena, with three hours of excited build up and costumed parades before the race itself.

She added that Siena is worth spending a whole week visiting for its historic architecture and art, while commenting that some of the best memories of the region were of its food.

Such attractions may tempt many to consider buying Tuscany property, so they can sample these features themselves.

Earlier this month, the Independent’s travel writer Tom Buckley said that Florence had more attractions than could be seen in a fortnight.

Those keen on buying Tuscany property may also find this a good reason to do so, as it will create enough opportunities to see the various sights of the city.

Accessibility promise for French property buyers in Picardy

Monday, March 23rd, 2009
Picardy is an easy part of France to get to from the UK, it has been stated.

Commenting on the ease of travel from Britain to the northern French region, marketing and PR manager for Picardy tourist board Claude Chaboud said: "From London there is the Eurostar and the ferries, so it is very, very accessible."

He also noted that there are direct flights to Picardy from Glasgow.

Such access could entice French property buyers to the region, as this could enable them to live there and commute to work in Britain, while it is also easy for British tourists to reach.

Some tourists come to the area to see sites from the Western Front in the First World War, Mr Chaboud said.

The French property market may also be helped by the high number of UK visitors to ski areas.

Director of the tourist office for the French government Maison de la France Jean-Pierre Courteau said earlier this month: "We have 400,000 British skiers in France and they are still the main group in the French Alps and the Pyrenees."

Now is time to buy Costa del Sol property, says firm

Monday, March 23rd, 2009
The best time for bargain hunters to buy Costa del Sol property is now, a real estate firm based in Spain has said.

Spanishhotproperties.com has suggested that those who are thinking of buying Costa del Sol property should act quickly because larger investor groups are poised to re-enter the market and snap up a large number of homes.

Marketing and operations manager Susana Suspenda said that the market in the region is currently slow because demand is substantially exceeded by supply.

But, she noted: "[The] Costa del Sol is still where the majority of people want to be, with the widest choice of lifestyle anywhere in the world."

Ms Suspenda predicted that many investor firms will make their moves in September but some will start investing before that.

The Costa del Sol region is a very good place to combine golfing with food, wine and seeing historic towns, Brandon Tucker recently wrote in his blog for World Golf.

Orlando property buyers advised to be creative

Friday, March 20th, 2009
Those looking to buy Orlando property for tourist rental purposes have been told to make sure it offers a competitive deal and good prices.

With more rental properties available across the US and many people looking to book late, those wishing to be successful at letting out their assets need to ensure they are as appealing as possible, the New York Times has stated.

Orlando property owner Victor Nawrocki told the paper he made the house more attractive for families with Disney-themed decor, something that has succeeded in achieving an 85 per cent occupancy rate.

He said: "If I want to be fully booked, I have to offer more features that renters can’t find elsewhere."

A recent survey showed that Orlando remains a popular visitor destination, coming sixth in a poll of the top ten cities that affluent Americans would like to visit by tourist research firm Ypartnership.

Portugal property hits top spot

Friday, March 20th, 2009
A new survey of online searches has seen the Portugal property market come out on top as the most popular.

Homesoverseas.com revealed that last month the country jumped from second place to first - overtaking Spain - in terms of viewings of its country page and individual homes.

Italy, France and the US were third, fourth and fifth in the list respectively.

The site noted that this trend has seen the Portugal property market rise from fourth place over the past two months.

It also stated that the number of overall searches for foreign property by Britons showed that their appetite to do so remains "firm".

One attraction that may entice some to buy Portugal property is the golf tourism market.

As well as offering many chances for visitors to play the sport, the country also hosts a number of tournaments, such as the forthcoming Portuguese Open at Estoril, which takes place from April 2nd to 5th.

Scoring with Algarve property

Friday, March 20th, 2009
A range of holiday treats could be enjoyed by those staying on the Algarve, something that may be noted by Algarve property owners.

Families can sign their children up to a three-day football training course at the John Aldridge Soccer School at Easter, which is held in the region at the Oceanico Estrela da Luz resort, the Daily Telegraph reports.

The school’s website states that former Liverpool player Aldridge is present at many of the sessions.

Such an offering may appeal to tourists who could rent out Algarve property.

The region offers a number of events that may interest those coming as tourists.

Among these are the Algarve Film Fest, which is held from May 4th to 9th and the Med Festival, a summer event that features music, food, art and crafts from the various countries of Europe and Africa with coastlines on the sea.
