According to head of foreign relations at Barcelona Turisme Maria Luisa Albacar-Fracanzani, the city is an ideal place for people with any budget to visit as they could take advantage of cheap flights and also spend "peanuts" on the getaway itself.
Furthermore, Brits could find the Spanish city ideally located for a break in Spanish property.
"It’s ideal because it’s not too far away for many Europeans and just a short flight away for us Brits, which makes for a perfect weekend break," Ms Albacar-Fracanzani said.
Recent findings from OnePoll showed that Barcelona is the most popular place in Europe for Brits to travel to.
The group noted that other resorts in Spain "dominate" the top 20 favourite places to head to, which could be of interest to those who own property in Spain.
