Discover another side of Rome from a property in ItalyAnyone who is spending time in a property in Italy near Rome should head out to find some of the city's less well-known sites, it has been claimed.

There are many places of interest to visit besides the coliseum and Vatican City Stefania Gatta, spokeswoman for the Italian State Tourist Board, noted.

She recommended seeking out some of Rome's fascinating quarters, such as Ghetto area, which she described as "very traditional, very typical of Rome".

Trastevera is another part of the city that those staying in a property in Italy may want to visit, especially if they are looking for an exciting night out, Ms Gatta added.

Meanwhile, she recommended looking around some of the many churches that can be found in Rome and are often not frequented by visitors.

In particular, she highlighted San Pietro in Vincoli, explaining: "It is a small church and it houses the masterpiece by Michelangelo, the Moses."

The building dates back to the fifth century and is said to have been constructed to house the chains that bound St Peter when he was held in a prison in Jerusalem.
