Florida is one of the most popular long-haul destinations for British families to head to for a well-earned break, it has been suggested.

Investors in Florida property may be interested to hear that according to Sean Tipton, a spokesperson for ABTA – The Travel Association, long-haul flights are becoming increasingly popular as prices continue to fall.

Mr Tipton pointed to Florida as a long-haul destination that holds enduring popularity with British families.

"There are a million British tourists a year, it’s very affordable and is not that much more expensive than a short-haul flight," he said.

He added that the US is the third most popular holiday destination for Brits.

Meanwhile, sales of property in Florida are continuing to rise, the Florida Association of Realtors discovered recently.

It said that sales were up by 28.9 per cent in December – the fourth consecutive month such a trend has been recorded.
