Florida property owners who let out their second home as a holiday rental could be in for a bumper year, new research has revealed.

A new study by the Post Office has highlighted the US’s increasing popularity as a tourist destination, with one third of all long-haul travellers surveyed by the company planning a stateside vacation.

Jonathan Cudworth, director of product management at Expedia EMEA, said: "One of the key selling points of the States is its sheer size and diversity.

"From the picturesque scenery of its National Parks, to the glitz and glamour of the Strip, there really is something there to suit every traveller’s tastes."

And in more good news for Florida property owners, the Post Office research also found that the pound has benefitted from a 21 per cent recovery against the dollar since the start of 2009.

This could also increase the appeal of a Florida property excursion for many British tourists eager to get the most out of their hard-earned holiday cash.
