The north-west region of Spain could be a good part of the country for Brits to buy property in as it has been described as a "well guarded secret".

According to the Spanish Tourism Office, the area is a place most often visited by people "in the know" about its natural beauty – such as the fjords of Galicia – and its amazing history, with areas such as Castille boasting medieval castles.

This news could make the north-west of the country a great place to buy property in Spain and could suggest that the region is up-and-coming.

"The Cantabrian Mountains in Asturias lend themselves perfectly for hiking, caving and other outdoor pursuits. And for beach-lovers, its unspoilt coastline remains largely undiscovered," said UK and Europe director at the Spanish Tourism Office Ignacio Vasallo.

Recent figures from a number of companies suggest that property prices in Spain are remaining low, which could also tempt Brits to invest in the country.
