The spirit of adventure is still alive and well among UK residents, according to John Lewis and Waitrose, which state that canoeing is now one of the most popular adventure activities among Brits on holiday.
John Lewis and Waitrose director of card services James Furse commented: "People will always be seeking sun, sea and adventure.
"If you look at some of the fastest growing activities in the UK, canoeing is one of them."
A holiday at a Portugal property can certainly offer sun, sea and adventure, according to Portugal Sport and Adventure, which recommends the remote beauty of the Peneda-Geres National Park for canoeing enthusiasts.
Portugal property near the lake at Alqueva, Alentejo, which features Europe’s largest man-made dam, will also whet the appetite of boating fans, the website states.
