Property in Italy's western Sicilian region could be perfect for a 2011 breakThe Moorish property in Italy's island state of Sicily could be among the hottest holiday destinations for 2011.

Holiday operator Travelzest has listed the locations it expects to see high on vacationers' agendas over the coming year.

With flights to property in Italy's western Sicilian regions cheaper than those to the east of the island, the area gains its place on the shortlist.

It is the west of Sicily which is particularly influenced by Moorish culture from the southern Mediterranean coastline, the company adds.

Because of this, styles from north Africa stand alongside traditional 'baglio', thick-walled farmhouses complete with arches and courtyards unique to western Sicily.

Would-be visitors are told by the travel operator: "This part of Sicily offers a distinctively different experience from that of the east and is less crowded."

Travelzest was created in 2005 following the public listing of VFB Group and has offices in the UK and Canada.
