Overview & gallery
The Querceto farmhouse is an oasis of relaxation in the centre of Val'Orcia, perched on a hill looking onto the beautiful town of Pienza. Upon opening the door of your individual apartment within the farmhouse you willfeel as though you are in a picture postcard of a renaissance scene.

Situated on the top of a green hill, the current house was built upon the remains of an old 1300s building, which was demolished then rebuilt at the behest of Pope Sixtus V pre- 1600.

The planning and building carried out by the Ares group has given the farmhouse estate a new lease of life. It has carried out the work creating a building ,while adhering to the original architectural style and taking care touse only the same top- quality Tuscan building materials used in the 1600s, for example Florentine terracotta tiles and wooden beams. Great attention has been paid to such details but all modern comforts have also beenincluded such as a natural swimming pool.

The large farmhouse will be divided into 6 apartments which range from 80 to 165 m2. Almost all of them will have two floors and a large private garden. Each apartment will have its own private entrance (as well as itsparking space which will be situated away from the front of the building so as not to ruin the magic atmosphere of the house- front) The estate will be enhanced by the building of a natural swimming pool: a pool of waterwith its own natural ecological system of purification, thus blending in nicely with the surrounding environment.

    Tuscany

Tuscany is a land of art, culture and history, but it is also a place where you can have fun, relax and above all experience good living.
Tuscany needs no introduction, since it is , without a doubt, one of the main attractions on the stage of world tourism. Nevertheless, one cannot speak of Tuscany without praising its beauty.  To cite but a few examples, there is the Duomo of Florence with Giotto's bell tower, Piazza della Signoria with its majestic sculptures, Piazza del Campo in Siena or the leaning tower of Pisa. Tuscany was home to a number  of men who shaped the history and artistic heritage of Italy; Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci , Galileo Galilei, the composer Giacomo Puccini and Dante Alghieri ( Tuscany is also the region where the Italian language was  born)

    Siena

Siena is one of the most beautiful cities in Tuscany. It lies surrounded by olive groves, Chianti vineyards and the Val D'Orcia. Built upon the tops of three hills, the medieval city is criss-crossed by wide streets and narrow  lanes intertwining with each other. In the centre lies the biggest and best- known square, Piazza del Campo, where the Palio takes place. Its historical centre has been a World Heritage Site since 1995.  Legend has it that Siena was founded by Senio, the son of Remus ( Romulus and Remus, the founders of Rome). Actually, Senia Julia was the name given to the Roman colony founded by Augustus on the site of a  pre-existing Etruscan village. The city was at its peak during the middle ages, while its darkest hour came with the plague in 1348.

    Interiors

It goes without saying, that in a fabulous land such as Tuscany, its buildings' interiors are of the finest quality.

In creating the interiors of the apartments in Podere Querceto , only top quality materials will be used and they will reflect the types of materials used in this area since the Renaissance period. The roof for instance will be  built using chestnut wood and Florentine terracotta , so there will be thick wooden beams overlaid with "campigiana" traditional ceramic tiles. Similarly, the same attention to detail will be seen in the floor tiles, which will  also be made of Florentine terracotta.

Every house will have a fireplace: an essential element ever present in old Tuscan dwellings.

On the other hand, the exteriors will have stone facing, reproducing the old way of laying stones in bygone days . All the doors will be arch-shaped.

High quality window and door fittings , construction techniques based on green- building parameters , and adherence to eco- organic guidelines will ensure that the house will enjoy an A+ energy rating. It will be environmentally  friendly and be constructed with eco- friendly materials. Also, it will be in keeping with the local architectural style .  A marriage between the past and modern comfort.

    Furniture

Opening the door to the house will be like opening a present. Buying one of the "Podere Querceto" apartments is a bit like receiving a present because you will not need to worry about anything, not even having to furnish  the apartment. An interior designer has planned every space and every room to include high quality custom- made furniture. Every piece will be made by Italian tradesmen who place an emphasis on quality. They will be  produced by small companies not global brands. In order to make your stay in "Podere Querceto" as pleasant as possible, nothing has been left to chance. The modern, elegant style of the furnishings contrasts with the  classical architecture of the apartment, creating an incredibly charming effect.

For those who prefer to choose their furniture and plan their own layout, an interior designer will be at the buyer's disposal to assist in finding a solution to the client's liking.  The interior designer will not only arrange the apartment interiors. The exterior too, will be planned in detail. The verandas and each apartment's garden will also be completed.  A present then , which is just waiting to be opened.
