This is a two family single story rustic property with two annexes situated in the rolling hills to the east of the famous river town of Alcoutim which is approximately 35km up the Guardiana River from the beautiful south coast of the eastern Algarve there is 7800 sqmtrs of land with grapevines, orange⁄lemon trees, also fig, pomegranite, olive, almond etc. the property over looks the village and the local country side.
So in this region you have the quite serenity of the surrounding hills and unspoilt countryside and friendly helpful local people, but on the other hand its only half an hours drive to the hustle and bustle of the south coast with its remarkable golden beaches and crystalline sea, with Golf and all the other tourist attractions that Portugal has to offer. Or for a few minutes more you can cross the bridge into Spain and sample all the benefits of a totally different culture.
Cortes Pereiras is a rural village it has an Association Bar where the local people meet for a drink and catch up on the local gossip the they also organise local games for example Malha this is a game that you must throw iron discs at a peg and the nearest wins, also games of cards where you are likely to win a Lamb, Pig or Chickens. They also organise our yearly festival here in the village, every village here has there own Festival during the Spring⁄Summer and everyone is invited from the local villages, there is always lots of dancing, eating and drinking and a speech from the local President. These festivals continue until the first week in September when Alcoutim has the biggest Festival that continues for five days and nights with a fantastic Fireworks display most nights.
Our other Bar⁄Shop is also a centre of activity this is where the vans stop to sell there wears for example every day there two vans selling freshly baked bread and cakes, twice a week they sell fresh meat from a refrigerated van, three time a week fresh vegetables, twice a week fresh fish, also a van that sells frozen food, there are others that sell clothes, shoes, and household goods,
Alcoutim has many activites for example, Fresh water fishing, Sailing, canoeing, Jetsking are just some of the water sports. There is a fully equiped Gymnasium we have a fresh water beach for swimming and a circuit of easy exercise equipment also Alcoutim is the starting place for the famous Algarviana a walking path from Alcoutim to Sagres on the western Algarve.(This walk passes by the propery in Cortes Pereiras).
