The thick construction of the exterior walls act as temperature gauge keeping the hot air out in the summer and the heat in through the winter. The village is also home to the striking and imposing El Palacio del Almanzora with origins dating back to the 16th Century. It has been declared Patrimonio Histórico Andaluz or of historical significance and importance.

In July and August the municipal swimming pool in the village is open for anyone to use at a cost of just 1€ per day including a lifeguard!

The towns of Cantoria, Arboleas and Albox are all an approximately 10 minute drive away where you will find more shops and conveniences whilst a trip down to the coastal town of Vera is only 35 minutes.
