Nearest neighbours: there is another cottage about 50m currently being used as a holiday home. There is one small secluded bungalow in the adjoining plot, it belongs to a french family but is not occupied full time. Beyond the bungalow there is the farm cottage (100m) and dairy opposite.

There is a small field on the north side of the cottage which occasionally has one or two cows in it. There are trees all around the cottage giving welcome shade in the orchard on very hot days but the patio on the south side gets full sunshine all day for eating outside, sunbathing etc.

There is a village shop at Les Biards 1 mile away, with good shopping/supermarkets/banks at Ducey 3 miles and more at St Hilaire 5 miles.

Avranches is 9 miles away. There are good local markets every day, the biggest and best being in St Hilaire on Wednesday.

In the immediate vicinity there is the beautiful river valley of the Selune, woodland and scenic walking, a popular childrens theme park as well as very good restaurants and excellent shopping in Avranches and St Hilaire du Harcouet close by. The scenic coast and sandy beaches are easily accessible and it is possible to see Mont St Michel from the garden in the distance.

The department of Manche is in Lower Normandy and is bordered with Calvados, Orne, Mayenne and Ille-et-Vilaine. The English Channel in the west, north and north-west coastlines makes getting here to its many ports very easy from the UK. There is also an airport in Caen and many others are easily accessible in the surrounding regions such as Rennes airport.

History is all over the department through its museums and heritage, discovering the local traditions and culture as well as Chateaux, religious monuments, water mills, maritime sites and gardens is easy to do. The biggest “must-do” is a visit to Mont Saint Michel.
