Full description:

Set in the extraordinary beauty of the iconic West Coast of New Zealand's South Island, this blissfully quiet, secluded resort is located in the heart of Karamea, gateway to Kahurangi National Park, the country's second largest National Park.

The region is renowned for its eco-tourism. Its ancient native forests, pristine rivers, wild ocean beaches, caves and limestone arches attract tourists from all over the world. The Karamea river is noted for the fighting qualities of its brown trout and white-baiting is popular in season.

The resort comprises a superbly appointed, architect-designed lodge with a Qual-mark 4-star rating. There is a spacious reception foyer, three beautifully appointed ensuite bedrooms, with private covered verandas and an impressive open-plan lounge and dining area, with extensive decks and outdoor dining and barbeque areas, all with estuary and sea views. As well, there is a TV lounge, a well-equipped kitchen, breakfast bar and guest laundry, a commercial laundry and utility rooms. There is a separate eco-friendly, three double bedroom Fraemohs home, with timber decks extending around three walls.

The resort enjoys a sub-tropical climate, with all-day sun and unobstructed views over the sheltered waters of the glorious Otumahana estuary to the sea beyond. It is an ever-changing panorama, which can alter dramatically from a sunlit seascape, as the tide ebbs and flows, to a spectacular West Coast sunset. There is safe freshwater and seawater swimming in the estuary.

Surrounded by six hectares of tree-studded parkland and gardens, there are approximately two hectares of magnificent virgin forest, bordering the property. Majestic ratas and kahikateas, a rimu, nikau palms, kauris and tree ferns grow alongside beeches, ribbonwoods, pseudopanax, lancewoods, cordylines, kowhais and pukas. There are numerous ferns and delicate native orchids and the air is alive with birdsong. Lovely little walking tracks meander through the bush and small bridges span a little stream.
