Casa San Benedetto is a very unusual centuries-old property, built into the medieval walls of Santopadre (a medieval hilltop town near Arpino), with an incredible private garden perched halfway down the walls!

Accessed off the piazza next to the fine church of St Rocco, you enter a large entry hall. This floor has been restored and is immediately habitable, although in the long term many purchasers will want to change the layout slightly to expand what is now a rather small bathroom. On this floor, there is an L shaped sitting room, with lovely views across the valley, and a fireplace; a master bedroom, also with views across the valley; a second bedroom or study overlooking the piazza; a dining room; a kitchen (also overlooking the valley); and a bathroom.

ARPINO AND THE CIOCIARIA

Santopadre is a charming little medieval hilltop town with an adjacent more modern amall area where you can find all shops and services necessary for day-to-living. Santopadre is around 10 minutes drive from Arpino which is one of the major medieval hilltop towns in the area of Italy called the Ciociaria, the name given to the fertile land that lies south of Rome but north of Naples, situated inland in the hills in the heart of Italy.

The Ciociaria region is within easy reach of both Rome and Naples and their respective airports. A day's shopping in Rome is a common pastime, while an even shorter drive brings you to the charming beaches south of Rome. Alternatively, drive east, and the mountains of the Abruzzo National Park await with horse trekking in the magnificent beech forests, and sparkling mountain lakes and rivers where you can swim in the heat of the summer.
