Records indicate that the property was founded as a convent by the Emperor Charlemagne in the early 9th Century. It was used as a refuge for Cathar women during the Albigensian crusade of the 13th Century. The original convent was destroyed during the 100 years war, but was rebuilt again as a convent in 1322. It became a priory in the mid 18th century and was rebuilt in 1770, when a pigeonnier was added. During the 19th century it became a private residence and there is graffiti in the large cellar indicating that the property was occupied by French soldiers during the Napoleonic wars.
