Where is Oliva? Oliva is at the far north of the Costa Blanca coast where it meets the Costa del Azahar. Oliva is located in the region of Valencia.

How to get to Oliva? Oliva is situated between Alicante and Valencia Airports. The main motorway AP7 Junction 61.
By car it will take about 50 minutes to Valencia Airport and about an hour ten to Alicante Airport.
By Train from Valencia Airport to Gandia and a bus to Oliva which is very popular for people who do not drive.
By tram from Alicante Airport to Denia and then a bus to Oliva.
Taxis are available but costly.
Buses are cheaper and Beniconnect Travel seems to be the most popular and can connect you to most places.

Places of Interest

Oliva is full of things to see and do so here are just a few.

1. San Roc Church is situated in a beautiful square with coffee shops and cafés. Inside the church if you are lucky enough to see is the most amazing décor with golden decoration and just oozing wealth and charm. Built in the 15th Century and was originally a mosque over the years it became a church and various alterations due to age and wear and tear.
2. Santa Maria La Major Church is situated at the lower part of the Old Town and is just a beautiful as San Roc again with plenty of wealth and character.
3. Historical tour along this tour are various things to see, there is the Old Priest house, kilns, turrets of the old Castle and at the top of the hill the Castle still stands which is a great place to go walking.

Beaches

INCREDIBLE. Not over crowded like most of the Costa Blanca Beaches. Miles and miles of BLUE FLAG BEACHES, beaches for everyone, quiet and secluded or the opposite with water sports such as kitesurfing, paddle boarding, kayaking, banana boats, jet skis and much more it all depends what you like to do. The main thing is the beaches are never over crowded which is why they are so popular with the Spanish.
The waters are shallow so great for families with young children, no sudden drops like the Atlantic or other rough seas.
Along the beaches there are nature reserves in the sand dunes and most plants are protected like most of the coastline in Valencia.
Various coffee shops, bars, restaurants, gift shops, supermarkets all thriving in the summer months some of these are accessible from the beaches depending on where you go. Near the shops are the life guards and Red Cross centre.

Market

Oliva has a busy market on a Friday morning selling an abundance of fresh fruit and vegetables. Other bargains, such as clothes and gifts are also on sale. Cheap sacks of Oranges and Lemons which are locally grown are a must to buy after all this is the Orange Blossom Coast Costa Azahar!

Restaurants
1. El Pelut Bar and Restaurant situated in the Old Town of Oliva. Traditional Spanish cuisine and menu del dia starting from €9.
2. Sanchis coffee shop and patisserie on the main passeo near the band stand.
3. Bar Amigos this is near San Roc church and you may find you quite fancy a full English breakfast or egg and chips!

Fiestas

Oliva has one of the most amazing fiestas the Moors and Christians. Oliva is a traditional town which is very proud of its heritage.

Activities

Tennis club situated on the main road between Oliva town and the beach. Tennis lessons are available for all standards you can relax after with a meal in the club or light refreshments.

Golf Course Oliva Nova Golf Course has 9 or 18 holes and you can choose which you wish to play, designed by world famous Spanish golfer Seve Ballesteros. The course is next to the beach situated on a 5 star complex, there is a driving range, professional coaches for lessons for all abilities.

Equestrian Centre Oliva Nova has the world's best riders will gather in the Equestrian Centre Oliva Nova. The MET 2014 will count on the representation of riders from Germany, France, Spain, Great Britain, Italy, Japan, USA, Portugal, Russia, Turkey, Malaysia, Chile, South Africa and Switzerland, amongst others. All together about 350 male and female riders from 44 countries and five continents as well as a total of more than 2,000 horses from the world's best stables will participate in an intense schedule of international competitions in Show Jumping and Young Horses.

Walking, Hiking and cycling the winter months here in Spain are ideal for these activities as the weather is beautiful temperatures can still be in the early 20's during the sunny days and we do get a lot of those. Castle walks, hiking groups, and cycle routes the area is very popular for these activities. There is a group called the U3A that have these groups look at their website and become a member for just a few euros a year.
