Being close to El Cotillo there are several bars and restaurants close to the old harbour where you can relax and watch the astounding sunsets, and the views from El Toston (the tower) are stunning. Just a couple of miles to the north of El Cotillo there is a lighthouse which is also a fishing museum, a great destination for an afternoon stroll.

El Cotillo is a beautiful small village at the northern west of Fuerteventura, on the west. The village is set around the small pretty harbour that is mostly used by local fishermen and local sailing enthusiast. This harbour is actually relatively new, the old harbour is only a short walk to the north over the headland that separates the two. There are several bars and restaurants close to the old harbour where you can relax and watch the astounding sunsets ,and the views from El Toston (the tower) are stunning. The Tolsten was built by the Spanish as a lookout point for spotting English pirates. Just a couple of miles to the north of El Cotillo there is a lighthouse which is also a fishing museum, a great destination for an afternoon stroll.

There are miles of golden beaches here and even on a busy day they are too big to be overcrowded. To the north are the lagoon beaches of shallow clear water and white sand contrasting against the black volcanic rock. The biggest of the beaches, La Concha, has a large car park and a beach bar. It is very popular with locals and tourists alike.The smaller lagoon beaches are favourite places for naturists. There are even more beautiful beaches to the north of the lighthouse. The main town of La Oliva is just a short drive away.La Oliva is the main municipality in the north of Fuerteventura and of course the main Town hall is situated here. It is an old town with a church that was built over 300 years ago. La Oliva is a rural location with extensive green areas, museums and art galleries! You will find the famous exhibition centre and restored historical building La Casa de Los Coroneles which is the biggest rural mansion in the whole Canary Islands,

The town boast a selection of restaurants, bars, supermarkets, schools, gymnasium, green houses, pharmacies, petrol garage, banks, post office; in fact everything you need for daily life. Also, visit the Rural Hotel Casa Vieja for a fabulous restaurant and surroundings.

La Oliva has a good transport system with buses passing through to Puerto del Rosario, Corralejo, El Cotillo and Lajares. The main international airport is approx. 25 minutes driving time.
