Tetir is a very pretty but small Canarian village that offers a great mixture of old and modern features, and is well worth a visit. It is situated only 9 km from the Islands Capital of Puerto del Rosario. The village church was built at the beginning of the 18th century under the patronage of Santo Domingo de Guzman, and therefore named after him. This pretty church has a single nave with a tiled roof. The presbytery is higher than the nave, with a sloped roof. The front facade is the bell tower that was built in 1880 is formed from various layers one on top of the other, this get smaller as the tower goes up. Various times in the year there is a Mercado Artesanal or craft fayre. Here you can buy various canarian products and other hand made goods that are made on the island. While you are there you can have a camel ride or a ride on a donkey cart and listen to some Canarian folk music. The market is held on the second Sunday of March, It has the normal childrens' play area and a large hall for canarian wrestling, which is a popular sport known as lucha canaria.
