The swimming pool is 15 metres long and 5 metres wide with access by wide steps at the shallow end of the pool.The pool has a salt water system, there is a heat exchanger which provides heating in the late spring and early autumn months. There is plenty of space for sun loungers and a shaded area, poolside shower and storage cupboard complete the pool area.

The village of Garvao is 5minutes by car and about 30 minutes to walk-it is a small village and has mini market,bakery hardware shops a few bar/ cafes.

Ourique a larger town is 13 km about 12-15 minute drive-it has 2 supermarkets ,a variety of small shops,cafes, restaurants,banks, pharmacies ,library,cinema,football club and a swimming pool.There is a doctors surgery and a small cottage hospital.

The Cafe Central in Ourique which is run by a husband and wife team-she is english and speaks fluent Portuguese,he is Portuguese they provide a valuable service of translation,holiday rental management and pool cleaning and are very helpful to expats of all nationalities who come to settle in the area.

Cachorros is easy to get to from Lisbon and Faro by car or rail-the rail station is in Funcheira just 10 minutes drive from the house.The wonderful West coast and its beaches and National park are only 45 minutes away and the Algarve with its many resorts,shopping centres and golf courses is also an easy 50 minute drive away.
