The chateau dates back to the ninth century but was destroyed in the eleventh century by the Normans. It was not until the fifteenth century that the construction of the castle we see today was finished and it has since been owned by many lords, dukes and clergymen who appear in the history of France.
Its historic features are prominent and have been immaculately kept. Overall the main residence offers 600 sqm of living space with a further 800 sqm across the accompanying outbuildings.
Château des Saules and its grounds cover some 55 acres, complete with moat (kept in pristine condition) and two beautiful ponds. The entrance of the main property is via a traditional drawbridge which opens out onto the main courtyard.
The 800 sqm of out buildings include a caretaker’s property, a separate apartment and a reception hall and as a result, this fine period property has been successfully used for large scale events such as weddings.

Over the centuries, Oise has been shaped by the great events of French history. Today, this department is a open history book, inviting visitors to enjoy myriad experiences just outside Paris. A land of builders, Oise has managed to preciously preserve its particularly rich heritage: not only the vestiges of France’s earliest royal residences, but also abbeys, the first Gothic cathedrals, castles and pleasure châteaux. And complementing these architectural treasures, fun and educational thematic museums relate the department’s glorious past.
