The chateau dates back to the ninth century but was destroyed in the eleventh century by the Normans. It was not until the fifteenth century that the construction of the castle we see today was finished and it has since been owned by many lords, dukes and clergymen who appear in the history of France.

Its historic features are prominent and have been immaculately kept. Overall the main residence offers 600 sqm of living space with a further 800 sqm across the accompanying outbuildings.

Château des Saules and its grounds cover some 55 acres, complete with moat (kept in pristine condition) and two beautiful ponds. The entrance of the main property is via a traditional drawbridge which opens out onto the main courtyard.
