The front part of this large room has the kitchen area with an ancient marble sink and
marble worktop, stainless steel gas hob, microwave oven and fridge with freezer compartment.

There is marble table and medieval-style wrought iron chairs for eating indoors.
Behind is the cosy sitting area, with stylish modern chairs and a sofa -bed, enabling friends and family to stay.

A few steps away from the courtyard is the large (10m x 5m) swimming pool with its brightly coloured oleanders and a stunning view across the valley. The pool has lights for those wishing to swim after sunset. The pool and garden costs are shared with the other three houses, making it very economical to run.
The house is already set up as a rental property, well looked after by a couple in the village.

Being in the hills, it rarely gets excessively hot even at the height of summer. And with metre thick walls, La Taverna maintains a very steady temperature in all weathers.

Prota is a friendly village. Just three minutes’ walk away there is a local cafè and above this is a restaurant, popular with locals, especially on a Sunday lunchtime. Fresh bread can be ordered at the bar and arrives around 9am each morning..

There is parking in the piazza which is just a couple of minutes’ walk away. This lane is only used for horses, cows and the odd small tractor. Prota is very much a farming community and the people are very friendly, often bringing fresh produce including cherries and plums to the door.

Down in the valley below tumbles the lovely Taverone river. A short drive takes you into the Apennine mountains, with many lakes to enjoy. It is an ideal area for walking.
The Ligurian coast is about 40 minutes away at Lerici, where you can take boats out to the Cinque Terre and Portofino. Pisa is only an hour away.

There is a large supermarket just outside Aulla which can be reached in 20 minutes
although you can buy most things in Licciana Nardi which is only 10 mins away. A pleasant stroll down the old ‘borgo’ brings you to a good butcher, grocers, etc and bar.
Apart from Guido’s trattoria in the village, Galletti’s is at the bottom of the hill, with several other good trattorias within a few minutes’ drive.

There are beautiful drives over the hills with stunning mountain views and you can drive
from Comano to Fivizzano, a bustling market town with bars around the Piazza in one direction and to the picturesque old town of Bagnone in the other. On a hot day you can walk up the clear flowing rivers to deep pools for swimming.
