Pedreguer, Alicante, 03750 Where is Pedreguer? Pedreguer is situated approximately 1 hour drive from Alicante and Valencia Airports. The main AP7 motorway junction 62 which is the Denia/Javea/Ondara turn off if you head towards Pedreguer on the CV-724. Denia is the main coastal town which is around a 15 minutes' drive and all water sports, scuba diving, paddle boarding, wind surfing and kite surfing can be found. The beaches are all BLUE FLAG which means the water and beaches are safe for swimming in and due to the Mediterranean sea the waters are shallow so popular with families. By bus from Alicante you can get to Denia and a connecting bus to Pedreguer. Pedreguer has a bus that will take you to Denia if you fancy a day on the beach and not driving. Tram from Alicante to Denia, the tram is cheap and a very picturesque way to travel up the coast, this way you can take in all the views. From Denia you can then catch a bus to Pedreguer. Taxi from the airport can be expensive however there are taxis that are much cheaper when you get to know people in the town. The Town Around the main square we can see some of the most beautiful 19th Century facades as well as "els Porxes": the market square is covered with Arabic tiles and constructed with cast-iron pillars and wooden beams. Pedregeur offers visitors the chance to take a walk through the town centre and discover beautiful ancient buildings such as the parish church of Santa Cruz (16th century), inside is the Grenzig organ, made recently by the German master Gerhard Grenzig. Outside the town centre there is the Sant Blai chapel, from which we can see the Segaria mountain range, the Montgo Nature Park and La Sella with the five star Marriott Hotel with golf course designed by Jose Olazabal. Pedreguer town has everything that you need doctors, chemists, vets, supermarkets, electrical shops, bars and beautiful restaurants, schools, dentists, butchers if you need something you will find it if not just ask. Rastro Market Sunday is market day, the market is held in the poligono part of town which is easily accessed off the N332 this is the coast road that runs parallel with the AP7. People flock from all over the Costa Blanca and Costa Valencia, the market has an abundance of fruit and vegetable in fact we get bags of them for a few euros. Various other market stalls and Rastro stalls. A large selection of shopping for everyone. Restaurants Taberna Antigua which serves the most exquisite of food and the owners have real pride in what they serve. Taberna Antigua is rated number 2. Restaurant Cal Blanc Menjars is rated number 1 this is a quality restaurant with several starters included and a choice of main courses and deserts. Beautifully presented and equally delicious. Restaurant Armells number 3 on Trip Adviser this is one of my favourites. This is a typical Spanish family run restaurant, Nan, mum, dad and the son all hands on here. They welcome you anytime of the day morning through to dinner time; if it is 4.30pm and they are there they will cook and serve. The best steak I have eaten here on the Costa Blanca North reasonably priced, I was having a drink one day when some people drove up and asked can you do paella? With that the whole family got to work and within half an hour they were putting the paella dish in the back of an estate car, as I say nothing is too much trouble. Wednesday is closed unless it is a national holiday. Fiesta's JANUARY The Three Kings - Procession and distribution of presents to the children. JANUARY Fiesta of San Antonio - Processions and blessing of animals. FEBRUARY Fiesta of San Blas - Firework displays, procession and dancing. EASTER - Throughout Spain the week of Easter (Semana Santa) is celebrated with somber religious processions, usually entailing an effigy of Jesus on the Cross being carried through the streets followed by mourners wearing black and carrying candles. Spaniards of all ages take part and one cannot help being struck by the sense of community and dedication to tradition that the celebrations reflect. JULY Fiesta of San Buenaventura - BULL-RUNNING - The famous bull running event is held in many towns at different times of the year all over Spain. Large, generally aggressive bulls are let loose in designated streets to chase after those who think they are fast enough to jump out of their way, run behind the many wooden barricades or into the steel cages set up for their protection, before they get gored. Not for the faint hearted, and definitely best left to those with more experience as it is not as easy as it looks. The bulls are very fast and many people - usually foreigners - get hurt, and occasionally killed each year due to them tripping and falling before they manage to get to safety. These bulls have large horns, and will attack through fear. Hundreds of people attend the events, sitting upon makeshift platforms above the streets or standing within the steel cages. It can become rather noisy with everyone shouting and jeering at the bulls who naturally feel trapped and we all know how a cornered wild animal reacts to this kind of situation. Activities Golf The golf course was designed by the prolific José María Olazábal in 1991. La Sella is one of the most important courses designed by the double champion of the Masters in Agusta. Enjoy in Denia a 27-hole round of golf, known internationally for its excellent conditions for playing golf throughout the year. Its 6,289 metres has been played by the top names in European golf. La Sella Golf has been headquarters of the Peugeot Circuit since 2007 and has hosted national team events and other big events. It is a wide and varied course, located in an area which is protected. Its design is appropriate for all levels of players. The 27 holed La Sella Golf Club is surrounded by a Mediterranean ecosystem of woods and mountains and is flanked by the impressive Montgó Natural Park. From every corner of the course you can see different species of olive trees, orange trees and almond trees, which makes this course, along with the pleasant climate, a golfer's paradise. Tennis La Sella boasts 6 international standard clay courts and 2 astro tennis courts. Coaching is available in English and various other languages and for all standards. Community Sports Centre with various activities such as football, basketball, tennis, community swimming pool and other activities advertised on the notice board. Equestrian Centres There are various equestrian centres the main one in Pedreguer is on La Sella Urbanisation, various abilities; horse riding lessons and hacks out are available here. Hiking/Walking The town has spent a lot of money over the last few years reopening walking routes in various places. The main walk in Pedreguer is past the Ermita and this walk can take you all the way through to the Jalon Valley. There are easy walks and more difficult walks. Montgo National Park and Mountain have various routes and they are all marked out according to easy or difficult. Areas within Pedreguer There are 3 main urbanisations that come under the town of Pedreguer and here they are: La Sella this is where you can find the Golf Course, Tennis Club and Equestrian Centre. There are communal charges for most of the properties on this urbanisation with the exception of a few villas that benefit from all the facilities and have no financial commitment. This urbanisation has 24 hour security, mini supermarket, internet shop and most of the properties here have views of some sort, some have the SEA, some have the National Montgo Mountain, some apartment have views the swimming pool. Most sections of this urbanisation have a communal pool within each section so not one pool is ever over crowded.
