Nestling in a hollow of the gently sloping Andalucian hills, surrounded by olive groves, the converted farmhouse (finca) of Casa Milagros is the perfect place to unwind and recharge your batteries. Or, if you prefer to get out and about, the central location is ideal for exploring the rich cultural heritage of Andalucia.

The property

Originally built approximately 80 years ago, Casa Milagros is a 4-bedroom converted farmhouse, designed so that it can be used as either a 4 bedroom house, or as two self-contained apartments, each with their own kitchen or kitchenette, bath or shower room, and terrace areas, with shared use of the swimming pool and lavadero (utility room). This versatility makes Casa Milagros an ideal solution no matter whether you are looking for a holiday home, permanent home, rental property, or a combination of all three!

The house sits in its own olive grove, which is divided into two plots, totalling some 5000 m2. An area of the olive grove has been fenced to provide security and privacy.

The nearest village is Estación de Archidona, which is a short (10-15minute walk away) and the nearest towns, Archidona and Antequera are respectively 15 minutes and 25 minutes drive away. The village of Estación de Archidona has a shop and a bar, and there are supermarkets, restaurants and other amenities in both Archidona and Antequera.
To reach the property, it is only a moment’s drive down an unpaved track from the tarmac road to Estación de Archidona. The A92 motorway between Granada and Sevilla is only 10 minutes away, with easy connection to the A45 motorway towards Cordoba and Málaga. Málaga airport can be reached in 45 minutes, or even less by using the new toll road.

The accommodation is spread over 2 floors.
Ground floor
The ground floor of the house, whilst not fully fitted for disabled use, has nevertheless been designed to be as wheelchair friendly as possible as it is all on one level, with no patio door tracks, and has:
• ramp access to front door and pool at rear
• all doorways at least 80 cm wide
• wet room - no shower tray to negotiate
• low-level section of breakfast bar / workspace in the kitchen
• steps at the shallow end of the pool to assist with access.

To the front of the house there is a low-walled terrace area with a vine-covered central section. This has extensive views over the beautiful olive plantation-covered hills. It is east-facing and therefore gets the sun in the morning and is cool and shady in the afternoon. There is also an area at the front of the property, where you can park under the shade of an olive tree.

As you walk in through the front door, there is an entrance area and fully-fitted traditional Spanish style kitchen, which is well equipped with: a butane gas range-style cooker with five burners and large oven; fridge freezer; stainless steel one and a half sink; granite worktops and custom made solid wood cupboards.

The kitchen leads through double doors with glazed windows to the large, covered terrace at the rear which, being west-facing, is cool in the mornings. On this terrace, there is plenty of room for tables and chairs and there is a built in barbecue, making this is an ideal area for informal dining. At one end of this terrace is a lavadero (utility room) which contains a stainless steel sink; a washing machine and dishwasher, as well as housing the boiler, water store and pumps. Steps and ramps lead up from this lower, covered terrace to the pool terrace.

To the left of the kitchen is the Spanish beamed dining & living room - with room for a good sized dining table and six chairs, as well as lounge furniture. Double doors to the front and windows to the sides make the most of the attractive views to both sides. A traditional rustic Spanish fireplace, as well as a separate wood-burning stove, ensure warmth on chilly evenings.

To the right of the kitchen, a typical Spanish archway with original timbers leads to a fully tiled wet-room (toilet, basin and shower); and to the ground floor double bedroom with its own private door to the front terrace.

First floor
The first floor is reached either by internal stairs, or external stairs at the north side of the house, enabling the first floor to become a self-contained apartment. The first floor comprises a living and kitchenette area with double doors to the large upper rear terrace, which has a wind-out awning for shade, and a built in barbecue. There is a fully fitted bathroom with shower, toilet and bathtub; and two bedrooms - one double bed size and one twin bed size. To the right of the stairs there is a further bedroom or living/dining room with a separate balcony to the front of this room.

Outside to the rear of the property there is a further large terraced area separated from the olive grove by a white painted concrete medium height wall. This pool terrace contains an 8m x 4m 'Roman end' swimming pool with wide, curved steps at the shallow end. An easy to use telescopic pool cover is fitted to the pool, extending the usage season and keeping out debris & wildlife. Also on this terrace is a ‘caseta’ - shed / summer house, and a walled flower bed, filled with aromatic rosemary and bright summer flowers, surrounding a large, old olive tree. The pool terrace, partly edged with lavender and rosemary shrubs, is accessed from the ground floor terrace either by central steps or by a ramp; and from the first floor by way of stairs and a path. There is a storage room outside underneath these external stairs.

We have had some wonderful times here in Casa Milagros, and will be sad to see it go - we hope that you visit and take a look. We're sure you will agree, it's a lovely house, especially as there are no agent's fees !!

Mains electricity, well and septic tank. There is no landline, but internet access can easily be obtained by use of the mobile phone system.
