The municipality of Chiusa Sclafani englobes the suburb San Carlo.
Chiusa Sclafani’s borders are with the following towns: Bisacquino, Burgio, Caltabellotta, Corleone, Giuliana, Palazzo Adriano.
The town was founded at the beginning of 1300’s by earl Matteo Sclafani, who widened up the existing medieval manor, called "Chiusa la vecchia", about 1,5 miles far from the current town centre. The discovery of a necropolis, which happened in 1877, would suggest that a urban oldest village could exist in a place not far from the current town. Up to 50 years ago there was an important railway station, hub of the Palermo-Corleone-Sciacca-Ribera line
A few steps from the central square Castello in Chiusa Sclafani, precisely in via San Sebastiano 38 corner to via Fici (coordinates 3.676227, 13.270425), Restate in Sicily is glad to present to you a property of some historical glamour. The façade is made of stones, facing its main entrance on via San Sebastiano no. 38 with a stone door and a over-door with a vault, adorned with a typical irony drawing. Close to it there’s a second door (no. 42), used once for rest of the animals in the stable.
On the first floor, via San Sebastiano, a balcony with iron railing can be seen, an old handwork dating first part of 1900’s and a window over the main entrance. Looking higher a second floor can be seen with a terrace from which you may admire an enchanting panorama over the roofs of the 1300’s town Chiusa Sclafani. On the other hand down via Fici the façade in stone wall has two small windows on the ground floor, a balcony on the first and one more on the second floor. A further small window can be seen on the second floor. By accessing from no. 42, from what was once the stable internally connected to the main house through a staircase on the right hand side, two oak barrels can be seen on the left, and the owner will give them as a gift to the new owner. A partition wall divides the large stable that could be brought back to its original space to host a kitchen, bathroom and the living room in the new renovation project. A few climbing steps leads to the first floor. Even here there is a space divided by a partition wall of largeness equal to the one below. In the renovation project this area has been thought as bedrooms. Please notice the smooth wooden doors, shutters and window frames manufactured according to the tradition of master craftsmen
More steps and the second and last floor with a wooden roof is reachable, where you will find the old wall kitchen with precious ceramic tiles, a wood-fired oven and the coal stove. From the terrace you can enjoy the bell tower of San Sebastiano Church. On the ground floor, opposite side of the road, there’s a organic grocery store belonging to mr Giovanni Mendola and the bakery of Mr Alberto Magro full of baked delicatessen, pizza and cookies with natural yeast. All this at a dizzying price...
