The park is approximately 8 hour's drive from St Malo or just a 1 hour 15 minute drive from Bordeaux Airport and is set in the countryside - just a short 15 minute drive to some of the best beaches in Europe near the town of Mimizan.

Mimizan town and beaches are backed by the large forests of the Landes - offering many outdoor activities and as the water at nearby Lake Aureilhan is always calm it's perfect for young children and the range of water sports is unbeatable. Mimizan offers a wealth of shops and restaurants as well as a twice weekly market selling fresh local produce - in the high season there is also a small night market near the beach with art and craft products for sale. Surfing, fishing, cycling, horse riding, tennis and golf are all available in the area

The Dune de Pyla - the highest sand dune in Europe with stunning views over the Bay of Arcachon is about 40 minutes drive away - the dune is almost 2 miles long and rises 350 feet above sea level. Discover the 15 km of white sandy beaches at Biscarosse or the Aqualand Waterpark with pools, flumes water rides and "the rapids" where you travel in a rubber ring from pool to pool via various slides. Less than 2 hour's drive away is one of the most famous tourist destinations in Spain - the city of San Sebastian - just 20 kms from the French border the town is one of Spain's most popular coastal cities with fabulous architecture, plazas and parks and the well deserved label as the "pearl" of the North of Spain.
